Abstract:
Hydrogen sulfide and hydrogen cyanide are catalytically removed from air at room temperatures. Air containing H. sub. 2 S and HCN in dilute concentrations is contacted with a dry, activated catalyst formed of palladium (II) and copper (II) salts such as chlorides, on an alumina substrate, at a temperature in the range of -20. degree. C. to 85. degree. C. The catalyst may also contain nickel (II) chloride.

Abstract:
An oxidation catalyst of palladium, copper and nickel on an alumina substrate. The catalyst is produced by impregnating the alumina substrate with a halide salt solution of palladium chloride, nickel chloride, copper chloride and copper sulfate. The catalyst is useful for removal by oxidation, adsorption or decomposition of gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen cyanide, sulfur dioxide, and ozone, present in dilute concentrations in air.

Abstract:
Ozone is catalytically removed from air at room temperatures. Air containing ozone in dilute concentrations is contacted with a catalyst formed of a; palladium (II) salt such as palladium (II) chloride, a copper (II) slat such as copper (II) chloride and copper (II) sulfate, and a nickel (II) salt such as nickel (II) chloride, on an alumina substrate, at a temperature in the range of -20. degree. C. to 85. degree. C. The catalyst is formed by making a paste of particulate alumina and a palladium (II) halide containing impregnating solution and then drying the paste and activating the catalyst by heating.
