Abstract:

A high melting solid aromatic or cycloaliphatic azole-based chemical embossing inhibitor is essentially insoluble and inert in water and/or water alcohol mixtures. These solid azoles can be readily micronized and dispersed into water-based printing inks for use in producing textured foamed plastic surfaces. These compounds comprise a general class of 1-N substituted aminomethylaryl- or cyclohexyltriazole and imidazole derivatives. Some of the preferred compounds are symmetrical di-functional triazole derivatives and some of the preferred embodiments have a carboxy moiety or a sulfonyl moiety attached to a nitrogen atom.

Abstract:

This invention provides an aromatic or cycloaliphatic triazole-based chemical embossing inhibitor which is completely soluble in water and compatible with water-based printing inks for use in producing textured foamed plastic surfaces. The triazoles comprise a general class of mono- and multi-functional 1-N substituted aminomethyl derivatives which are rendered soluble in water by the presence of at least one polyethyleneoxide (PEO) oligomer chain, or polypropylene (PPO)-polyethyleneoxide copolymer oligomer chain or PPO/PEO/PPO triblock oligomer chain with a sufficiently high PEO/PPO ratio for water solubility. Preferably the triazole derivative has at least six polyethylene oxide monomer moieties per triazole moiety.

Dispersible particles consisting essentially of crystalline NSAID having hydroxypropyl cellulose adsorbed on the surface thereof in an amount sufficient to maintain an effective average particle size of less than about 1000 nm. Abstract:

Thermal insulation is prepared using gelatin foam. Embodiments of gelatin foam insulation which are described include gelatin foam having an anti-wicking agent which is an aromatic compound having as ring substituents: an --NH. sub. 2 moiety and/or a hydroxyl moiety and also at least two sulfonate moieties. In another embodiment, the gelatin foam is combined with phyllosilicate mineral lamellae for void control and as a shrinkage deterrent. In yet another embodiment, crosslinked gelatin foam is described which has been crosslinked with a melamine/formaldehyde condensation product, a polyfunctional aziridine and/or an epichlorohydrin/polyamide condensation product.
