Abstract:

A method for communicating data over a packet switched network comprises dividing data into a plurality of frames, with each frame described by at least a first and a second parameter. The second parameter has a high correlation. The first parameter is placed in a first and a second description, while the second parameter is interleaved to the first and second descriptions. The first and second descriptions are packetized and communicated over the network. Upon reception, the first parameters for a frame sequence are extracted from one of the packets, while the interleaved second parameters are extracted from both the packets. If a packet is lost, the missing first parameter may be obtained from another packet, while the missing second parameter may be reconstructed using a second parameter from the other packet.

A micro-optic polarization beam multiplexing system has collimating means for introducing a first pair of polarization-perpendicular input beams, collimating means for introducing a second pair of polarization-perpendicular input beams, a polarization beam combiner for combining the first pair and the second pair of input beams into a first combined light beam with wavelength and a second combined light beam with wavelength , and a filter for multiplexing the first combined light beam and the second combined light beam into an output beam with wavelengths and. Abstract:

A system and method for transparent data replication of one or more data containers over migrating virtual servers (vfilers) operating on physical storage systems is provided. A mirroring (or other replication) procedure associated with a vfiler generates an entry in a mirror table maintained by one or more appropriate mirroring applications executing on the physical storage systems. The mirror table identifies source and destination “owners” of a replicated data container by vfiler instead of only by physical storage system. Thus, when a vfiler is migrated from a source physical storage system (“source”) to a destination physical storage system (“destination”), the mirroring application may continue to perform mirroring operations on the data containers at a per vfiler level to thereby improve the utility of migration of the vfiler among the storage systems.

Abstract:

Method for diagnosis of congenital lipoid adrenal hyperplasia and for the detection of the presence of a mutated gene for steroidogenesis acute regulatory protein (StAR) by analyzing nucleic acid obtained from a patient. The nucleic acid can be analyzed by restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis, nucleic acid hybridization, or nucleotide sequencing, among other techniques. A mutation may result in premature termination of the protein, or it may result in the StAR gene not being transcribed or translated, or it may result in a change in the amino acid sequence of the StAR gene product.

Abstract:

Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to novel activation functions which enable improved reproducibility and accuracy tradeoffs in neural networks. In particular, the present disclosure provides a family of activation functions that, on one hand, are smooth with continuous gradient and optionally monotonic but, on the other hand, also mimic the mathematical behavior of a Rectified Linear Unit (ReLU). As examples, the activation functions described herein include a smooth rectified linear unit function and also a leaky version of such function. In various implementations, the proposed functions can provide both a complete stop region and a constant positive gradient (e.g., that can be 1) pass region like a ReLU, thereby matching accuracy performance of a ReLU. Additional implementations include a leaky version and/or functions that feature different constant gradients in the pass region.
