Majority Of Illinois Counties Deemed 'Disaster' Areas: What This Means
According to Doug Yoder, senior director of Affiliate and Risk Management at the Illinois Farm Bureau, the federal government is a lender of last resort. Only farmers who cannot find credit elsewhere will be given a loan, Yoder says.
Doug Yoder of the Illinois Farm Bureau said farmers in disaster-area counties can go to their local farm service agency and apply for low-interest emergency loans called Economic Injury Disaster Loans. While the assistance is welcome, he said the loan does not come with an automatic approval.
