Montoya was not seriously injured. The driver of the dryer truck, Duane Barnes, was treated briefly at Halifax Health Medical Center and released. NASCAR officials identified him as a track worker at Michigan International Speedway who was helping with the jet-dryer fleet at Daytona.

Both Montoya and the jet dryer operator, Duane Barnes, walked away from the burning vehicles. Barnes, an employee of Michigan International Speedway, was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center for evaluation. He was treated and released, according to a Daytona International Speedway spokesman.
The collision ignited the jet fuel in the dryer and set both vehicles ablaze. Montoya and the driver of the service vehicle both escaped the wreckage, but the latter -- Duane Barnes, from Michigan International Speedway -- was taken to nearby Halifax Medical Center for further evaluation.
