Abstract:

Techniques for transmission of message fragments between Object Request Brokers operating in distributed object oriented environments. The techniques provide an elegant mechanism for fragmentation of messages into sub-messages. In one embodiment, a fragment-offset is provided as a means for determining the location of data bytes in sub-messages with respect to the original message that has been fragmented. During the construction and transmission of sub-messages, the fragment-offset can be updated to indicate the current offset with respect to the original message. Accordingly, in contrast to conventional techniques, a significant amount of computations or bookkeeping to track of several other variables (e. g. , number of fragments constructed, total number of bytes constructed, etc. ) are not required.

A rudder-steerable water ski is provided including a pivotable shoe rotatable by the user to correspondingly move a ski rudder through a transmission mechanism. A V-shaped rudder may be used with at least one blade of the rudder remaining in the water when the ski is angled with respect to the surface of the water. In this invention an all electronic circuit for moving and stopping an object is disclosed. The object is responsive to movement from a drive signal. The object is moved from a first position to a final position and is stopped without physical damping or substantial ringing and the like. The present disclosure relates to evaluating different semantic interpretations of a search query. One example method includes obtaining a set of search results for a particular search query submitted to a search engine; obtaining a set of semantic interpretations for the particular search query; obtaining, for each semantic interpretation of the set, a canonical search query; generating a modified search query based at least in part on the particular search query and the canonical search query for the semantic interpretation; obtaining a set of search results for the modified search query for the semantic interpretation; and determining, for each semantic interpretation of the set, a degree of similarity between (i) the set of search results of the modified search query for the semantic interpretation, and (ii) the set of search results for the particular search query.
