Abstract:
Phenolic resin particles which are useful as friction particles for use in friction elements such as brake linings, clutch facings or other braking devices are produced by dispersing a liquid, heat curable phenolic resin in a paraffinic oil having a viscosity of at least about 1,000 SUS at 100. degree. F. at a temperature of about 100. degree. to about 175. degree. C. Preferred friction particles are prepared from phenolic resins containing benzylic ether linkages in the presence of hot oil or by other heating methods. Friction elements containing such particles are also described.
Still, the results could lead to increased use of the drug. Only about half of the eligible women are being treated with the drug in the United States, according to Edward Lang Jr., a spokesman for Roche. And doctors say use is lower in many countries where cost is more of an issue.
