Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to anti-fungal peptides derived from or based on Domain III (amino acids 142-169) of bactericidal/permeability-increasing protein (BPI) and in vivo or in vitro uses of such peptides.
Swaging Process For Actuator Arm Of Hard Disk Drive
A hard disk drive that includes an actuator arm assembly with an adhesive attached to an actuator arm and a head gimbal assembly swage openings of the arms. The adhesive can be attached to either head gimbal assembly or arm before they are joined together. The head gimbal assembly is then placed on the actuator arm: A swage ball is pushed through the openings to swage the head gimbal assembly to the actuator arm. The adhesive strengthens the attachment of the head gimbal assembly to the actuator arm. The increase in strength can further attenuate vibration that is transmitted into the actuator arm assembly.

Abstract:
A serial device responding to user stimulation of disengagement actuator in the device to post a disengagement request via a serial socket in a host system complying with an insensitive serial protocol. The host system responds to receipt of the disengagement request by disengaging the serial socket with user notification of a safe disengagement message upon the disengagement of the serial socket. The insensitive serial protocol supports hot-swapping without automatic device disengagement, such as USB, FIREWIRE and SATA. Other embodiments include a computer readable media, a download portal as presented by a host system or provided by a server to alter the host system.

Abstract:
An aircraft control system includes a longitudinal control module, an engine torque control module, and an actuator control system. The longitudinal control module is configured to generate a desired torque value and a desired elevator position value for an aircraft based on a desired airspeed value, a desired altitude value, an actual airspeed value, and an actual altitude value. The engine torque control module is configured to generate a desired power lever position value based on the desired torque value and a measured engine torque value that indicates a measured engine torque in the aircraft. The actuator control system is configured to generate a power lever position command and an elevator position command for the aircraft based on the desired power lever position value and the desired elevator position value.

Abstract:
A non-transitory computer-readable medium includes computer-executable instructions that cause one or more processing units to acquire an airport map that includes a plurality of edge data structures. Each of the edge data structures includes a plurality of waypoints and membership data that indicates a location at an airport. The instructions further cause the one or more processing units to receive a starting location and a starting heading of an aircraft at the airport, determine a destination location and a destination heading for the aircraft at the airport, and generate a taxiing path plan for the aircraft based on the airport map, the starting location, the starting heading, the destination location, and the destination heading. The taxiing path plan includes a sequence of waypoints from the edge data structures. The instructions further cause the one or more processing units to send the taxiing path plan to the aircraft.

A system includes one or more cameras configured to attach to an aircraft and capture a plurality of images. The plurality of images includes a first image including a runway and a subsequently captured second image including the runway. The system includes an aircraft computing system configured to identify common features in the first and second images, determine changes in locations of the common features between the first and second images, and determine a predicted landing location of the aircraft in the second image based on the changes in locations of the common features. The aircraft computing system is configured to abort landing on the runway based on the predicted landing location relative to the runway.
Various examples are directed to systems and methods for operating a vehicle comprising a tractor and a trailer attached for pulling behind the tractor. A center-of-mass system may determine a mass of the trailer and a tractor understeer. The center-of-mass system may determine the tractor understeer using steering input data describing a steering angle of the tractor and yaw data describing a yaw of the tractor. The center-of-mass system may determine a load center of mass using the tractor understeer and a mass of the trailer. The center-of-mass system may further determine that the load center of mass transgresses a center-of-mass threshold and send an alert message indicating that the load transgresses the load center-of-mass threshold.

Abstract:
Various examples are directed to systems and methods of monitoring a vehicle. At least one processor unit may access first slope data indicative of a first slope referenced to a cab of the vehicle and access second slope data indicative of a second slope independent of the cab of the vehicle. The at least one processor unit may generate cab tilt data indicative of a cab tilt of the cab using the first slope data and the second slope data.

Description:
Imagine buying a house in 2008, when the prices have barely dropped. And, everyone thought that we had hit the bottom. The giant companies and firms received tarp money and were on their way to recovery, or so we thought. People were buying houses like hotcakes again. They drove up prices by about 10% from asking price. In the midst of all this was me. I was just a regular consumer that wanted to buy a house using an agent. Every house we liked, we were getting out bidded. It was pretty frustrating that people can buy it for so much more than what I thought it was worth. It was also due to them getting the house and not me. But I have no regrets because I was able to find a great home for the right price. That was because I did my research with only limited access to information and came to the conclusion that it was a good buy. Now with more access to resources, I know its a great buy!! It is Summer 2010 and prices have really fallen and expected to fall even more because of the expired government incentives. A lot of the homes that were purchased in 2008 have gone into default. The reason, in my opinion, is that some of them could no longer afford it due to the economy while the rest are cutting their losses by walking away. I still have my home and do not see any losses on it now or in the coming years. That is what I love about real estate. I still see people making the same old mistakes. They think that a comparison or CMA is enough. Even with a so-called friend who did not care enough to ask me is feeling remorse. Their home is not worth as much as they purchased the house 4 months ago. I could have told them that but they did not let me know they were going to buy a house. The house one street over was much newer with an additional 500 square feet of living space was selling for the same price. Why didn't anyone catch that? Well, I did. And I am pretty sure the new owner of that house did. But no one is going to work as hard on finding a house as the buyer. And the buyer only knows as much as the information they receive. So don't regret on not getting a deal.
