Abstract:

A control device for varying the displacement of variable volume fluid energy devices is disclosed. The control cylinder of the present invention is usable with variable volume pumps and motors having a control rod projecting from the pump housing and angular movement of the control rod varies the pump or motor displacement. The control cylinder includes a bore formed in the cylinder, a spool movable within the bore, a lever fixedly attached to the control rod for rotation therewith, a directional control valve manifold mounted to the cylinder for selectively moving the spool within the bore, and a scotch yoke for interconnecting the lever to the spool so that movement of the spool produces an angular movement of the control rod varying the pump displacement. The control device may also be directly applied to an apparatus requiring a linear input for control. A plurality of control devices may be combined to produce an analog input that is either angular or linear.

Abstract:

A hydraulic motor that provides an improved sealing configuration for sealing a shaft with respect to a housing of an internal gear motor or pump of the type commonly known as a gerotor. The hydraulic motor provides a housing having an output end and an input end with an opening extending therebetween. A gerotor is connected to the input end of the housing, and a cover is connected to and covers the gerotor while also receiving and rotatably supporting an end of the shaft. An inlet port and an outlet port are provided in the cover for communicating hydraulic fluid to and from the gerotor. A large roller bearing is coupled to the shaft and disposed within the opening of the housing to rotatably support the shaft. For high pressure applications, a pair of conventional mechanical face seals are coupled to the shaft and disposed within the opening of the housing. A third conventional lip seal may also be utilized as an added level of sealing the shaft with respect to the housing.

Abstract:

A pulsation damper and noise attenuator assembly comprising a housing having an inlet port and an outlet port fluidly connecting the interior of the housing to the flow path of the fluid flow system. A base is mounted to the housing and comprises a vent fluidly connecting the interior of the housing to an external fluid source. A sealing member such as an expandable bellows or piston is seated within the housing and creates a fluid tight seal between the fluid flow path and the external fluid source sealing member. The external fluid biases the sealing member in a forward direction. The sealing member acting against the N. sub. 2 fluid under pressure absorbs the full force of the hydraulic shock waves or pulsation within a high pressure fluid flow system as the assembly is mounted directly within the flow path of the fluid. The shock wave is exposed across the full face of the sealing member and dampened prior to the fluid continuing along the flow path.
