Abstract:

A method and apparatus for dispensing material, including adhesives, onto a substrate, including boxes and cartoons. A first and second dispenser are either operated in a dispense and standby mode or both dispense at least a portion of the dispensed pattern. The detection of a failure of one of the dispensing guns causes the other gun to dispense the complete pattern while de-activating the failed gun thereby maintaining production.

Abstract:

A device for carrying a heated liquid, and controlling the temperature of the heated liquid includes a liquid conveying element including a passage for carrying the heated liquid. First and second temperature sensing devices are operatively associated with the liquid conveying element to sense the temperature of the heated liquid. A controller is actively connected to the first temperature sensing device. The first temperature sensing device thereby senses the temperature of the heated liquid in the passage and conveys the temperature information or readings to the controller for use in the heater control. The second temperature sensing device is capable of being actively connected to the controller upon failure or malfunction of the first temperature sensing device.

Abstract:

A hydraulic swivel fitting for establishing a fluid connection with a liquid dispenser. The swivel fitting includes a fluid cavity housing a socket assembly, a ball member that rotates and tilts within the socket assembly, and a stem that is received within a bore in the ball member with a liquid-tight seal. The stem is movable within the bore so that axial forces applied to a supply conduit coupled with the stem are not transferred to the ball member. Instead, such axial forces are diverted from the stem to the housing of the swivel member and, subsequently, transferred from the housing to the liquid dispenser.

Abstract:

A uniaxial mounting for dispensing apparatus includes one or more uniaxial connecting portions on a dispenser and at least one support member having at least one complementary uniaxial mounting portion. The uniaxial mounting portions may include projections and generally complementary channels allowing rapid installation, removal and replacement of the dispenser. The support member may include a locking pivot for further adjustment capability. When dispensing heated liquids, a thermal insulator is incorporated to reduce heat conduction between the dispenser and the support member. The uniaxial mounting may have an alignment guide to ensure proper positioning of the dispenser along the axis of engagement between the uniaxial connecting portions.
