Abstract:

A method for a human user to interactively enter an alphanumeric text message into a multiline display device ( ) using a keypad ( ) containing a number of keys. On one portion ( ) of the display, the alphanumeric text message that the user is entering is displayed. On a second portion ( ) of the display, a listing of subsets ( ) of alphanumeric symbols is shown, with each subset being mapped to a corresponding key on the keypad. The user selects the subset of alphanumeric symbols containing the one alphanumeric symbol to be entered into the alphanumeric text message and depresses the key that is mapped to the selected subset. In response to this action, the second portion of the display then changes to show the alphanumeric symbols contained in the selected subset, with each alphanumeric symbol mapped to a specific key on the keypad. The user then selects the desired alphanumeric symbol and depresses the proper key. In response to this activity, the selected alphanumeric symbol is displayed on the first portion of the multiline display device.

Abstract:

A master authenticator ( ) is worn by a user and wirelessly transmits information associated with the user to a remotely located electronic device. The master authenticator contains a sensor ( ) to determine or sense whether or not the user is wearing the authenticator, along with a means to allow the user to log ( ) in to the master authenticator by performing predefined physical action on the master authenticator. Once the sensor senses that the user is physically coupled to or wearing the device, the user logs in so as to uniquely associate the master authenticator with the user. Once the user is logged in, a transmitter is enabled so that the information can be transmitted to an electronic device in the proximity of the user. When the user ceases to wear the master authenticator by removing it, the log in means de-authorizes further transmissions by the master authenticator due to action of the sensor sensing that the authenticator is no longer on the user.

Abstract:

A conveyor belt transfer section moves printed sheets at constant speed from a printer to a platen type die-cutter, this constant speed being equal to the printer speed. The die-cutter is provided with an intermittently operated sheet conveyor having a gripper bar that is moved intermittently so as to fully stop in succession at a plurality of locations including an infeed station and a working station downstream of the infeed station. When the bar is stopped at the infeed station, sheet grippers mounted thereon are opened and are kept open while the bar is accelerated in the downstream direction. As a sheet approaches the infeed station, the bar begins to move away from the infeed station at an acceleration rate which permits the sheet to enter the open grippers on the moving bar. These grippers are closed to hold the sheet when sheet speed and gripper bar speed are essentially equal. With its grippers closed, the bar continues to accelerate, then decelerate and finally stops at the working station with the sheet operatively positioned between the platens of the die cutter.

Abstract:

A holder for the handle of a container comprises a substantially rigid, continuous wire-like member bent to form a belt receiving portion and an integral handle receiving portion. The belt receiving portion stabilizes the position of the holder and the handle receiving portion is provided with first and second locking portions through which the container handle must pass before resting at the bottom of the handle receiving portion. The container is thus maintained in a stable, convenient position when the wearer is moving his body and/or walking, freeing the user's hands for other operations while at the same time permitting convenient access to the contents of the can and further providing a sturdy and yet small and lightweight holder.

Abstract:

A flat platen-type cutting and creasing press for sheet material includes a continuously moving closed loop conveyor that carries sheet gripping means in a feed direction along a generally horizontal feed path extending through a sheet loading station, a sheet unloading station, and a cutting station having die elements positioned thereat with the cutting station being positioned between the sheet loading and unloading stations. Eccentric shafts rotating at uniform speed translates platens carrying the die elements along a circular path positioned for the die elements to operatively engage and thereby fully cut a sheet moving along the feed path through said cutting station. Rotating counterbalancing weights on the eccentric shafts are disposed between points on the platens that are connected to the eccentric shafts.
