Awards:
PUSD Volunteer of the Year for Rolling Hills Elementary Rolling Hills Elementary School I am very grateful to have received the prestigious Volunteer of the Year Award for my work at Rolling Hills Elementary School Library and Learning Resource Center. I have been working on updating the Destiny Library Database to include Accellerated Reader Information. This information improves our student's ability to find books within their AR Zone of Proximal Development and thereby have full utilization of the massive collection of fine children's literature available to them through this source. This information is also useful in developing the Library's collection to target the complexity of the reading material to the grade level most interested in the subjects. (For example, few fifth grade girls are interested in dump trucks, so it makes little sense to spend limited library funds purchasing a large number of high level books about female dump trucks.) I am most grateful to Rolling Hills Elementary and PUSD for the excellent care and education they have provided my children from kindergarten through to successful completion of High School. I feel strongly that it started right there, with learning to read above grade level.
