Abstract:

A method for transforming solid, three-dimensional image data into three-dimensional surface data first smoothes the surface of the solid image by removing extraneous voxels both attached to main surface of the solid image as well as extraneous voxels about the main image before the surface transformation. Once the solid image is transformed into a surface image, the method again cleans the surface by removing any significantly spiked structures that appear out of place when considered with respect to the surrounding topography. The amount of data required to render the surface image is reduced by removing surface facets that fall within a planar threshold of the surrounding topography. The topography is also compressed in local areas to bring the topography toward a median level. The method may further cycle to attempt to reduce additional surface facets that may fall now within the threshold limit.

Abstract:

A system that interfaces with a workstation endocardial mapping system allows for the rapid and successful ablation of cardiac tissue. The system allows a physician to see a representation of the physical location of a catheter in a representation of an anatomic model of the patient's heart. The workstation is the primary interface with the physician. A servo catheter having pull wires and pull rings for guidance and a servo catheter control system are interfaced with the workstation. Servo catheter control software may run on the workstation. The servo catheter is coupled to an RF generator. The physician locates a site for ablation therapy and confirms the location of the catheter. Once the catheter is located at the desired ablation site, the physician activates the RF generator to deliver the therapy.

Abstract:

A method of generating a three-dimensional model of at least a portion of a heart includes inserting an electrode within the portion of a heart, robotically moving the electrode therein, periodically detecting position information of the electrode to generate a plurality of location points defining a space occupied by the portion of the heart, and generating a three-dimensional model of the portion of the heart including position information for at least some of the plurality of location points within the portion of the heart. The plurality of location points includes at least some location points on the surface of the heart and at least some location points interior thereto. The model is generated by utilizing a surface construction algorithm such as a shrink-wrap algorithm to identify the surface points and isolate or eliminate the interior points.

An interference cancelling receiver combines data from multiple paths after aligning to transmitter timing, and uses either an equalizer or a Rake receiver to compute symbol estimates. Interference estimates are generated from the symbol estimates, and multiple interference estimates are combined after re-aligning the interference estimates to receiver timing. At least two segments of symbol estimates are computed for each segment of interference cancelled data. Various techniques may be employed for controlling the latency and sequencing of these operations, and the subsystems within the canceller may use different processing clock speeds.

A cardiac imaging system including an imaging module including an ultrasound emitter and one or more position markers.
