Abstract:

A method for obtaining data from a user includes receiving a row selection in an input grid, where each column is associated with one of a plurality of primary input variables, and where each row is configured to display primary data corresponding with the plurality of primary input variables, receiving a request to expand the row to display an input form, where the input form comprises a plurality of fields, where each of the plurality of fields is associated with one of a plurality of supplementary input variables, and where the plurality of fields are configured to display supplementary data corresponding with the plurality of supplementary input variables. The method further includes expanding the row to display the input form, obtaining and storing supplementary data for the input form, collapsing the row to hide the input form, and displaying a summary of supplementary data stored for the input form.

Abstract:

A method allowing a professional service provider to access client data stored in an online account without storing confidential account information by the professional service provider. In particular, the service provider may register the relationship with the client in a third party information transfer framework where the client approves such registration and download the data from the online account using the confidential account information in a temporary manner. The client data may be stored in a repository available to the service provider based on the relationship registration. In an example, a professional tax preparation software may include functionality to check for newly downloaded client data within the third party information transfer framework, notifying a tax accountant (i. e. , the service provider), and may provide a one click access to import the client data directly into the client tax return.

Abstract:

A method and system for automatically saving a document in multiple file formats. A first file for the document is modified and saved on a persistent storage device using a primary file format. A second file for the document is saved on the persistent storage device using a secondary file format. The method further involves re-saving the first file as modified using the primary file format. When the first file is saved using the primary file format, the method further involves deleting the second file from the persistent storage device. A first mapping associating the second file with the first file is deleted. A third file for the document is created using the secondary file format and saved to the persistent storage device using the secondary file format. A second mapping associating the third file with the first file is created.
