Abstract:

A multi-phase power supply utilizes a current sensor including a sensor inductor winding connected in parallel with a filter inductor winding at the output of each phase for sensing the phase currents and balancing the current by adjusting the duty cycle of each phase through feedback control. In addition, in a multi-module power supply configuration, current between power supply modules is balanced through use of the same current sensor and current sharing technique. Each phase of the power supply includes at least one input power source and a current sensor. The sensor inductor winding and the filter inductor winding have the same number of turns and are wound about a magnetic core also present at each phase. A differential amplifier at each phase senses and amplifies any voltage difference between the outputs of the sensor inductor winding and the corresponding filter inductor winding. A current-sharing bus is formed between each of the phases, carrying the summed and averaged outputs from all the differential amplifiers.

Abstract:

A multiphase controller for a PWM power converter employs a single current sense device to measure input current, I, and an integrator at each phase to accurately measure power delivered during a pulse. The integrator monitors current delivered through a circuit which delivers a current signal scaled to I/N where N is the number of active phases. Thus where there are three overlapping phases, one-third of I is delivered to the integrator for each phase that is on or active. The integrator provides a Charge Ramp signal to an input of a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) comparator associated with each phase. The other input of the PWM comparator is tied to an error control signal common to all of the phases. When the Charge Ramp signal and the error control signal match, the corresponding phase is turned off for the duration of the cycle.

A multiple-phase power converter comprises a non-isolated, double-ended transformer having a plurality of windings, a high-side switch portion, a low-side switch portion, an output portion, and a controller. The high-side switch portion includes a first power switch connecting an input voltage source (V ) to a virtual phase node through a first winding of the plurality of windings and a second power switch connecting the input voltage source to the virtual phase node through a second winding of the plurality of windings. A network processor for processing information elements is described. Each information element is associated with a flow and comprises at least one information element segment. A policy controller stores an information element into at least one information segment storage unit within a memory, and determines whether an information element segment conforms to a predetermined quality of service (“QoS”). The present invention discloses a DC/AC converter in the backlight power supply system using cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL). The DC/AC converter comprises a front end DC/DC converter, a full-bridge or half bridge inverter, and a piezoelectric transformer. Abstract:

The present invention discloses a double-edge pulse width modulation (PWM) controller based on the output current and output voltage which is modulated in real time by the output current and the output voltage. The controller uses an extra first adder to sum up the compensation signal and a triangular signal (or a saw-tooth signal); a second adder to sum up the output current signal to a bias value; a PWM comparator, with its non-inverting input receiving the output of said first adder, its inverting input receiving the output of said second adder and outputs the PWM signal.
