Dr. Kaufman graduated from the Georgetown University School of Medicine in 2004. She works in Carbondale, IL and specializes in Infectious Disease. Dr. Kaufman is affiliated with Herrin Hospital, Memorial Hospital Of Carbondale and St Joseph Memorial Hospital.
Given the prevalence of the disease among teenagers and young adults, Dr. Erica Kaufman Southern Illinois Healthcare's infectious diseases specialist said she believes "we are in a time when a lot of young people don't know about HIV."
"Everyone between the ages of 15 and 65 and then anyone outside that range who has risk factors," says Dr. Erica Kaufman. "People who are 70 having unprotected sex or people that are 13 using IV drugs, those are people that need to be tested." She says.
"Some people think that it has to be cold out to have an influenza outbreak. And with it being unseasonably warm right now, and so a lot of people think that the flu is not going to be coming around," said Erica Kaufman, aInfectious Disease Physician at theCenter for Medical Arts.
