Abstract:

A system for pointing a device at a given target has a sensor for sensing a number of positional information points of the target with the sensor relaying the positional information points to a controller. The controller is for computing a directional control information based on the relayed positional information points. The system also has an adjustment device for moving the device in a direction that bears a predetermined relationship to the target in response to the computed direction control information. The target moves and the sensor senses the positional information of the target and the sensor relays the positional information to the controller with the controller computing the directional control information to control the adjustment device. The adjustment device points the device at the target.

When presenting information to a user via a display, an animated timeline () is provided on which a user selects a tick mark () representing a time on the timeline (), to view data collected at that time. Homopolar linear synchronous machines are provided herein that include a mover device. The mover device includes a cold plate with ferromagnetic cores extending through slots in the cold plate. Layers of armature coils are located around the ferromagnetic cores on opposite sides of the cold plate. The mover device further includes at least one field coil.

An electromagnetic actuator for generating force is provided. Abstract:

An electromagnetic machine for generating force is provided. The electromagnetic machine includes a magnet having opposing sides extending along a longitudinal axis. The electromagnetic machine includes a pair of ferromagnetic bodies respectively extending along the opposing sides of the magnet, and along the longitudinal axis, each of the ferromagnetic bodies comprising: a back-iron portion; and a pole portion extending from the back-iron portion. The magnet and the ferromagnetic bodies include reciprocal retention devices at the opposing sides along the longitudinal axis. The electromagnetic machine includes electrical windings around respective pole portions of the ferromagnetic bodies, the electrical windings around the respective pole portions being independently controllable. The electromagnetic machine includes at least one cold plate configured to thermally isolate the magnet from the electrical windings.

Abstract:

A moving member of a machine can include a cold plate that serves as a primary structural member for the moving member. The cold plate can have one or more cooling channels formed within the cold plate. A plurality of armature windings can be fixed to the cold plate. One or more field windings can be fixed to the cold plate. A plurality of ferromagnetic cores can be fixed to the cold plate, each ferromagnetic core positioned within a loop of at least one of the plurality of armature windings. A solid-state direct cavity combiner (DCC) transmitter system for providing megawatts of power is featured. The system includes a resonant cavity including at least one high-power output transmission line, hundreds of high-power transistors each generating an amount of RF power input directly into the resonant cavity, and a plurality of modules each including at least one pair of high-power transistors differentially driving a transmission line and a coupling loop. Each said transmission line and coupling loop extends into the resonant cavity to match an impedance of each said high-power transistors of each said module to an impedance of said resonant cavity to electromagnetically couple power into the resonant cavity to provide the megawatts of power to the high-power output transmission line.
