Abstract:

The present invention relates to new granules, as well as the process for their preparation, obtained by extrusion of a mixture containing a meltable binder in an amount such that it permits the passage of the mixture through a die. The granules obtained are then coated with a polymer permitting their trans-rumen passage without degradation. After coating, these granules are used for animal feeding of ruminants.

Abstract:

Disclosed herein is a method for reducing the color of an emulsion of functionalized polyolefin wax by treating an emulsion with a water soluble oxidizing agent at a temperature above the freezing point and below the boiling point of the emulsion and below the softening point of the wax. Disclosed herein, also, is the essentially colorless emulsion produced according to the disclosed method which is useful as an additive to floor polishes and other coating products.

The identification fibers can contain a plurality of distinct features, or taggants, which vary among the fibers and/or along the length of the identification fibers of the fibers, a fiber band, or. The disclosed embodiments also relate to the method for making and characterizing the fibers. Characterization of the fibers can include identifying distinct features, combinations of distinct features, and number of fibers with various combinations of distinct features to supply chain information. The supply chain information can be used to track the fibers, fiber band, or yarn from manufacturing through intermediaries, conversion to final product, and/or the consumer.

Abstract:

A process for making an infusible polyolefin includes the steps of: a) contacting the polyolefin in a sulfonation reactor with a sulfonation mixture comprising sulfur trioxide to produce the infusible polyolefin; b) recovering from the sulfonation reactor a recovery stream having sulfur dioxide; c) oxidizing at least a portion of the recovered sulfur dioxide to produce a recycle stream; and d) combining at least a portion of the recycle stream with the sulfonation mixture of step (a).Another aspect of the invention is for making a carbonized fiber from an infusible polyolefin of the present invention and further includes the step of carbonizing the infusible polyolefin to produce a carbon fiber.Another aspect of the invention is an apparatus for preparing an infusible polyolefin. The apparatus includes a plurality of compartments in fluid communication wherein at least one compartment is adapted for contacting a polyolefin with sulfur trioxide.
