Former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker has died
Sen. Baker narrowly lost the election to Democrat Ross Bass and ran again in 1966. In that election, Sen. Baker won 56 percent of the popular vote, defeating former Tennessee Democratic Gov. Frank Clement and making him Tennessees first popularly elected Republican senator.
