A protective device for protecting a female genital region, particularly during athletic competition, having an elongated, banana-shaped cup portion with an elongated concave cavity having sufficient volume to bridge over the wearer's vagina and perineum without contact therewith, and adapted to extend rearwardly between the wearer's upper thighs with the edge of the cavity proximate to the superior ramii, the inferior ramii, and/or the Ischial ramii of the pelvis, with minimal contact with the upper thighs, and a resilient padding mounted onto the edge of said cavity adapted to absorb at least a major portion of any impact experienced by said cup, and optionally including a curved, kidney-shaped shield portion adapted to fit against a wearer's bowel area sufficient to overlay and shield the ovaries.
A jockstrap is provided for holding a protective device in place on a human body. The protective device is a rigid cup having sufficient volume to enclose the male genitals. The protective device, when positioned properly, extends from the area above the male genitals, underneath the abdomen to a point in the vicinity of the wearer's rectum. The jockstrap includes a waist band, two straps attached to the waist band and a pouch for holding the protective device attached to the waistband and the two straps. The pouch extends from an area above the wearer's genitals, below the wearer's abdomen, to a point near the wearer's rectum. The jockstrap holds the protective device against the wearer's body in such a manner that the wearer's genitals are protected from blows from any direction.
A protective device is comprised of a rigid cup having sufficient volume to enclose the male genitals. A resilient padding is mounted on the edge of the cup and is adapted to contact the lower body. The resilient padding absorbs impact experienced by the cup. The resilient padding on the cup edge engages the body proximate to the superior ramii, the inferior ramii and the Ischial ramii of the pelvis with minimal contact with the interior upper thighs. The protective device so constructed causes impact experienced by the cup to be absorbed by the padding and the aforementioned portions of the pelvis.
A system for protecting a male genital region from injury including a cup having a rearwardly extending lower portion to extend between the upper thighs and engage the body proximate to the superior ramii, the inferior ramii, and the Ischial ramii of the pelvis with minimal contact with the upper thighs, and a cup periphery having a generally curved upper edge adapted to arcuately contact the wearer's abdomen above the pubic area, and a generally circular side edge periphery at a mid-section below the generally curved upper edge adapted to enclose the wearer's genitals without crowding, and in addition, a cup supporter having an elastic waist band with a fabric pouch attached at the front to contain the cup, and having a pair of elastic leg straps extending from the lower end of the pouch and back to the front of the waist band, with a pair of elastic support straps extending from the mid-length of the leg straps to the back side of the waist band.
