Abstract:

A data storage and retrieval file having a spoked wheel frame rotatably supported upon a post and carrying an annular data storage pan unit comprising a plurality of separable sections supported upon the spokes. A chain driven sprocket rotatably supported upon the post transmits its rotation through a floating friction slip plate clutch to the wheel frame, the load of the frame being supported upon a collar of the post, and pressure applying screws being carried by the frame are employed for adjusting the slipping point of the clutch plates.

Abstract:

A file cabinet support in the form of a base unit having an upper member rotatable relative to a stationary lower member selectively in either direction so as to present to the user either an open or a walled side of a separable file cabinet mounted upon the upper member; a floating disk between the upper and lower members having rollers about its periphery which ride against opposed flat surfaces of the upper and lower members; a pair of parallel heavy metal rings, one fixed to and encased in the upper member, the other fixed to an underface of the lower member, the rings having the sides of their rims in alignment with the peripheries of the rollers; a pivot shaft unitary with the upper member depending axially through the unit to the underside of the lower member; and a plate washer bolted to a bottom end of the pivot shaft restraining separation of the components of the unit.

Abstract:

A rotary file unit provided with radially extending shelves and compartments for the storage of files, which unit may be used standing alone or housed within a cabinet having opposed access openings. A door unit is rotatable within the cabinet relative to the file unit to effect simultaneous opening or closing of both access openings. Divider elements are provided for dividing the spaces above the shelves into compartments of various widths; and backwall members are provided for varying the depths of the compartments.

Abstract:

A rotary file cabinet having two opposed open sides and two opposed walled sides mounted upon a rotatable base for selective rotation to present either its open or walled sides to face the user; the cabinet being of quadrate form adapted to be aligned in a row with similar cabinets and in spaced relation to each other so as to enable free unobstructed rotation of one relative to the other; the cabinet having a door hinged to each vertical side of each side wall thereof adapted in a closed condition to cover over one-half of the spacing between the cabinet and its neighbors so as to present with a similar condition of the neighboring cabinets a continuous wall appearance; and the cabinet including spring loaded lever means connecting diagonally opposed doors of the cabinet with each other, the lever means adapted upon an initial manual turning of a selected door to effect a corresponding turning of the opposed door and adapted upon the doors being turned approximately 90 degrees to react and cause both opposed doors to become fully turned to either an opened or closed condition, the doors being restrained by the spring load in either condition against loose movement; and the cabinet being adapted in a fully opened condition of its doors to be rotated freely relative to neighboring cabinets.
