A service control system grants or denies a users request for a communication session to a communications system. The service control system receives the request. The service control system processes the request to determine the service availability level for the time period for the user. The service control system determines whether to grant the communication based on the service availability level for the time period and the communication system performance. The service control system transfers a reply based on the determination of whether to grant the request for the communication session.
A voice mail system employs caller-specific sub-mailboxes that are created within a voice mail account owners mailbox so that a caller designates an access pincode for the sub-mailbox and then has access to the sub-mailbox for leaving messages, deleting messages, and re-ordering messages. Consequently, the voice mail systems achieve increased flexibility in accessing previous messages by one caller from multiple telephone locations, increased overall productivity of voice mail system users, the capability to allow a mailbox owner to prioritize the playing of recorded messages, and minimized connection time and battery consumption of portable, handheld devices accessing the voice mail system.
Validating A Transaction With User Voice Authentication Using Wireless Communications
A system comprises a wireless interface coupled to a transaction manager. The wireless interface receives user information, including a user speech sample and a user account code, from a wireless communication device over a wireless communication link. The transaction manager transfers the user speech sample and the user account code to a validation system. The transaction manager receives and displays validation information from the validation system. The validation information indicates if the user is authentic and if the account code is valid. The validation information may include a picture of the user that is displayed by the transaction manager.

Abstract:
A communication system is disclosed that automatically configures a communication device for wireless communication. In the communication system, a first communication device receives identification signals from second communication devices. The first communication device processes the identification signals to generate a composite signal. A control system determines a location of the first communication device in relation to the second communication devices based on the composite signal. The control system generates a virtual topology map of the communication system based on the location of the first communication device and the composite signal. The control system generates wireless communication information based on the virtual topology. The first communication device processes the wireless communication information to configure itself for wireless communication. The communication system advantageously configures communication devices faster and cheaper than prior systems.

Abstract:
An access communication system provides access between a user system and a plurality of communication networks. The plurality of communication networks provide services to a user in the user system. An access communication system includes a local database system and an access server that is connected to the user system and the plurality of communication networks. The local database system receives a user logon. The local database system then processes the user logon to determine if the user is allowed access to the access communication system based on a local database system. The local database system then provides access to the access communication system to the user in response to the determination that the user is allowed access based on the local database system. The local database system then generates an authorization query for a second database system external to the local database system in response to the determination that the user is not allowed access based on the local database system. The local database system receives and processes an authorization response indicating whether the user is allowed to use the access system from the second database system.

Abstract:
A communication system comprises a plurality of wireless transceivers and a control system. The wireless transceivers periodically monitor transmit signals from the wireless transceivers to determine transmit signal strengths and transmit signal frequencies. The wireless transceivers transfer messages associating the wireless transceivers with the transmit signal strengths and transmit signal frequencies. The control system receives the messages. The control system generates an alarm if one of the transmit signal strengths at one of the transmit signal frequencies for one of the wireless transceivers exceeds a threshold.

Abstract:
A communication system comprises a wireless transceiver and a control system. The wireless transceiver scans its memory addresses for frequencies in response to a wireless transceiver boot. The wireless transceiver then determines signal levels for the frequencies in response to the scan and transfers a first message indicating the signal levels for the frequencies. The control system receives the first message and determines a selected set of the frequencies based on the signal levels. The control system transfers a second message indicating the selected set of the frequencies. The wireless transceiver receives the second message and stores the selected set of the frequencies for subsequent use in wireless communication.

Abstract:
An enterprise communication system comprises a wireless transceiver and a server. The wireless transceiver is located within the enterprise and receives a hand-off for a wireless communication device from a public network base station in response to the wireless communication device entering an enterprise cell. The enterprise cell is located in a public network cell of the public network base station. The wireless transceiver communicates over an air interface with the wireless communication device. The server determines the positioning of the wireless communication device within the enterprise and selects information for the enterprise based on the positioning. The server transfers the information for the enterprise to the wireless communication device through the wireless transceiver.

Echoes of 2007 color reactions to Va Tech shooting
"There have been a lot of people that have been working REALLY hard since 2007 to make sure that there are systems in place to prevent what happened in 2007 and the miscommunications that could have saved people's lives from EVER happening again," said Fred Cook, 26, who broke his ankle jumping from
