Abstract:
A method and apparatus for determining a stress field in a subterranean formation include deploying a stress measurement tool on a tubular string, opening at least three fractures in three different radial directions in the subterranean formation, and closing the at least three fractures. The at least three fractures are reopened while measuring stress and strain conditions. From the reopening, a tangential stress component for each of the at least three fractures is determined. From the tangential stress components and radial directions of the at least three fractures, the stress field of the subterranean formation is determined.

Abstract:
Novel synthetic methods to produce layers or films and flakes of pristine graphene, heteroatom-doped graphene, nanoporous graphene or heteroatom-doped nanoporous graphene using specially designed molecular precursors at temperatures as low as 160 C. using a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) system. The methods enable the realization of graphene-based electronics and technologies due to the low-temperature synthesis, large-area coverage, and scalability of the CVD method by taking advantage of the precursors tendency to polymerize and fuse once on the catalytic metal substrates.
Therapeutic Particles That Enable Antigen Presenting Cells To Attack Cancer Cells
Embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to modified antigen presenting cells that include a recombinant protein appended onto a surface of the antigen presenting cells. The recombinant protein can include: an ectodomain positioned on the surface; a transmembrane domain with a region embedded in the cell membrane; an antigen presenting cell recruiting domain that directs the cells towards the cancer cells; and an antigen presenting cell activator that activates or licenses the antigen presenting cells. Additional embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to methods of expressing the recombinant proteins on antigen presenting cells and utilizing the modified antigen presenting cells for treating various cancers in various subjects. Further embodiments of the present disclosure pertain to nucleotide-containing carriers for expressing the recombinant proteins of the present disclosure in antigen presenting cells.
A method of testing mechanical properties of an earth formation can include disposing a probe in a wellbore, impacting the probe against a wall of the wellbore, and measuring a parameter related to at least one of a displacement, displacement rate, strain, and strain rate, of at least one of the probe and the formation. Another method can include disposing a probe and a known material in a wellbore, and after the disposing, penetrating the known material with the probe. Another method can include disposing a probe in a wellbore, measuring a displacement of the probe into a wall of the wellbore while measuring a load applied to the probe, and applying fluid pressure to the formation via the probe.
Chemical Probe-Dependent Evaluation Of Protein Activity And Uses Thereof
Aspects of the disclosure relate to a method for evaluating two or more target proteins of interest from the same family in a specified functional form, the method comprising: (i) contacting a composition comprising or suspected of comprising the two or more proteins of interest with a molecular construct comprising: a targeting group operatively linked to a retrieval tag; wherein the targeting group specifically binds to the specialized functional form of the two or more target proteins of interest; (ii) contacting the composition with at least two antibody-oligo constructs, wherein at least one of the constructs comprises a first antibody operatively linked to a first oligo and at least a second construct comprises a second antibody operatively linked to a second oligo; wherein the first antibody specifically binds to one of the two or more target proteins of interest and the second antibody specifically binds to the other of the two or more target proteins of interest; (iii) contacting the composition with a second molecular construct comprising a retrieval tag binder operatively linked to a retrieval oligo; (iv) incubating the composition under conditions sufficient for the ligation or annealing of the first oligo to the retrieval oligo when the first and retrieval oligos are in close proximity to each other and ligation or annealing of the second oligo to the retrieval oligo when the second and retrieval oligos are in close proximity to each other; and (v) detecting the ligated or annealed first and retrieval oligo and the ligated or annealed second and retrieval oligo.

Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to identifying potential fracture treatment locations in a rock formation for oil and/or gas production based on production potential. One example method includes receiving internal imaging data of a core sample of a rock formation; generating a digital core sample model of the structure of the core sample based on the internal imaging data; analyzing the core sample model to determine the density distribution of a deposit in the core sample; and determining a production potential value from the density distribution of the deposit.
