Abstract:
An infrared (IR) security system and method is disclosed comprising two or more IR cameras directed upon a common surveillance area. Locations of the cameras and their optical fields of view are pre-established and stored in a central computer database. Computer programs harmonize the information into a 3D grid. The camera processors perform image processing on the surveillance area to detect moving objects. Object angular position, size, aspect ratio, and radiometric intensity are simultaneously transmitted to the central computer. The grid position, physical size, and inherent electro-magnetic contrast of the objects are computed. These IR signatures are then compared to the target definitions in the database of IR signatures on pre-defined threats. Alarm criteria can be based on object size, location, and movement over time. When a threat is determined, the user is notified by text message, image or video.

Abstract:
A thermal or infrared imaging system that is particularly useful to enhance a vehicle operator's perception of surrounding scene features under vision-impaired conditions, e. g. , rain, fog, smoke, and the like. Scene radiation is passed to an imaging sensor through a wavelength-selective attenuator that operates to pass radiation in a first wavelength range substantially without attenuation and to pass radiation in a second wavelength range with controllable attenuation. This permits maximum sensitivity to objects in the scene that radiate in the fist wavelength range and controllable sensitivity to objects that radiate in the second wavelength range, whereby the sensor may be prevented from becoming overloaded or saturated by radiation in the second wavelength range while continuing to produce useable image signals of objects in the scene that radiate in the first wavelength range.

Abstract:
An endoprosthesis or stent comprising a continuous loop of material is disclosed, along with a method and systems for deploying the stent at a desired location within a collapsed vessel. The stent can comprise a double spiral configuration or a double helix configuration, and can be coated with a slippery biocompatable substance. The systems for deploying a stent include catheters capable of maintaining a stent in a reduced diameter state and releasing the stent so that it can resume it expanded diameter state at the implantation site.

Abstract:
A distal intravascular filter is disclosed for filtering blood flow therethrough and entrapping and retaining embolic debris. The intravascular filter including a small diameter hollow guide wire or tube capable of percutaneous placement of the distal end thereof beyond a carotid stenosis. The distal portion of the tube includes a filter mounted thereon. The filter is deployable from a tightly closed configuration to an open circumference for blocking the unfiltered flow of blood beyond the carotid stenosis. The filter is deployable between open and closed positions by manipulation of an actuating wire extending from the filter and out the proximal end of the tube.
