Abstract:
An end-seal patch bag has a patch which extends more than 50 percent of the total transverse distance around the bag, the patch covering at least a portion of at least one side edge of the bag. A side-seal patch bag has a patch which extends more than 50 percent of the total longitudinal distance around the bag, the patch covering at least a portion of the bottom edge of the bag. For both end-seal and side-seal patch bags, the patch covers at least a portion of each lay-flat side of the bag. The invention includes a process for making these end-seal and side-seal patch bags, as well as packaged products utilizing these patch bags. By providing a patch which covers more than just one lay-flat side of the bag, the use of a second patch can be avoided, together with the inefficiency, alignment, and registration challenges encountered if more than one patch is applied to the bag.

Abstract:
A container comprises a substrate and a multi-layer film The substrate has a bottom wall and a continuous base wall in which the continuous base wall encompasses the bottom wall and extends upwardly therefrom. The substrate comprises at least one particulate mineral filler and polypropylene. The multi-layer film is attached to the substrate. The multi-layer film comprises at least a first layer and a second layer The first layer comprises a metallocene-catalyzed polyolefin The second layer comprises polypropylene. The substrate and the multi-layer film are made in the absence of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH), ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), and ethylene methyl acrylate copolymer (EMA).
Process And Apparatus For Trimming Polymeric Parts
A process for forming and trimming a part comprises providing a continuous web of polymeric material, thermoforming the continuous web of polymeric material into the desired part, providing a cutter arrangement comprising a blade, providing a platen assembly comprising a closed groove that generally corresponds to the outer shape of the blade and a vacuum system, wherein at least one of the cutter arrangement and the platen assembly is moveable with respect to the at least one other assembly, trimming the part of the continuous web of polymeric material from the remainder of the continuous web of polymeric material via the blade, and removing undesirable trim material formed during the trimming of the part via the vacuum system.

Abstract:
A flexible disposable cutting board comprises a polyolfin resin, such as polypropylene, and from about 10 to about 85 wt. % calcium carbonate. The cutting board generally has a thickness of from about 5 mils to about 12 mils. The flexible, disposable cutting board is preferably cut resistant, foldable, and has water and microwave stability. The cutting board preferably has foldability without cracking after being stored.
Disclosed is an oriented, heat shrinkable, thermoplastic vacuum bag having a protective heat shrinkable reverse printed patch attached thereto, thereby protecting the bag from puncture by sharp protruding bones in bone-in cuts of meat which are vacuum packaged within the bags while simultaneously providing desired graphics protected from abrasion. The protection is especially directed to prevention destruction of the desired graphics when used on bags for packaging bone-in cuts of both fresh and smoked or processed meat. The reverse trap printed bag produced by this method is also disclosed.
