Abstract:

An airflow measuring assembly and method for an air handling system, such as an HVAC system. The assembly is constructed and arranged to direct a measurable air stream to quantify airflow through an air handling system. The assembly includes a plate structure with at least one aperture and airflow sensors. The assembly is adapted for placement in a slot of an air handler and may simulate the flow resistance of HVAC filters. The airflow sensors may be positioned with respect to the plate structure to provide averaged total and static pressure signals. A manometer may be connected to the assembly to provide pressure differential readings and which may be converted via mathematic formulas to provide the volumetric airflow rate through the air handling system.

An autoloading method and apparatus is disclosed for a turret mounted gun that is pivoted horizontally relative to the turret and must be lowered to a substantially horizontal 0. degree. position for loading selected cartridges from a magazine conveyor, ejecting empty cartridge cases and misfired cartridges from the gun and turret, assisting in replenishing cartridges from outside the turret into the magazine, and off-loading cartridges from the magazine. A partition divides the turret into two compartments with a gunner and a commander located in one compartment and the mechanical components of the autoloader and breech of the gun located in the other compartment. When the gun is returned to the 0. degree. position for ejecting an empty case, the site of the director system remains on target. The turret is preferably mounted on a military land vehicle.

A rinse process for solvating adhered primary melt residue from magnetic garnet crystals grown via liquid phase epitaxial (LPE) techniques. The rinse melt consists of a mixture having a saturation to nucleation temperature range that encompasses the primary melt's growth temperature and a solvent compound different from that used in the primary melt, which will solvate the solvent used in the primary melt and will not produce undesirable rinse melt adhesion.

Abstract:

An implantable medical device uses a solid-state sensor for detecting the application of an external magnetic field. The sensor includes first and second split-drain field-effect transistors (MAGFETs) which are cross-coupled such that an external magnetic field perpendicular to the channel regions of the MAGFETs causes an increase in current through one split-drain half of each MAGFET, and a decrease in current through the other split-drain half of each MAGFET. The sensor also includes a high-gain differential amplifier coupled between the MAGFETs for detecting changes in the current conducted through the respective split-drain halves, and produces an output voltage which changes upon application of an external magnetic field to the implantable medical device. The magnetic sensor operates at low power supply voltages and bias currents available in implantable medical devices such as a cardiac pacemaker, so that current drain and power consumption are minimized.

Abstract:

A pacemaker sense amplifier circuit exhibiting a very high common mode rejection ratio for detecting intracardiac electrogram signals is disclosed. The circuit includes a sampling capacitor which is differentially charged by the intracardiac signal. The voltage stored on the sampling capacitor is periodically applied to a high input impedance differential voltage amplifier which is referenced to the battery ground. The signal is smoothed and reconstructed by a bandpass filter, and is applied to a comparator to generate a logic level pulse indicative of the occurrence of a cardiac depolarization.
