  • Rf Communication Signal Distribution System And Method

    view source
  • US Patent:
    57747890, Jun 30, 1998
  • Filed:
    Dec 14, 1995
  • Appl. No.:
    8/572054
  • Inventors:
Erik van der Kaay - Shaker Heights OH
George S. Dubovsky - Forest VA
  • Assignee:
Allen Telecom Inc. - Solon OH
  • International Classification:
    H04B 358
  • US Classification:
    455 16
  • Abstract:
A system and method for distribution of RF communication signals. First RF communication signals are downconverted in a first signal processing subsystem and transmitted to a second signal processing subsystem via twisted-pair cable. The downconverted first RF communication signals are upconverted at the second signal processing subsystem to provide recovered first RF communication signals, and the recovered first RF communication signals are transmitted via an antenna. Operating power for the second signal processing subsystem is provided from the signal processing subsystem, and the second signal processing subsystem determines the occurrence of an event and transmits autonomous information signals thereabout to the first signal processing subsystem.
  • Capacitor Coupling Arrangement For Uhf Resonant Structure

    view source
  • US Patent:
    43618219, Nov 30, 1982
  • Filed:
    Apr 13, 1981
  • Appl. No.:
    6/253306
  • Inventors:
George S. Dubovsky - Forest VA
Henry A. Schaefer - Lynchburg VA
Ralph R. Sherman - Forest VA
  • Assignee:
General Electric Company - Lynchburg VA
  • International Classification:
    H03H 701
  • US Classification:
    333219
  • Abstract:
Precise capacitive coupling to a coil is provided by a coil form having a central winding portion for a coil and having transverse flanges at the ends of the winding portion. The flanges are shaped and dimensioned to fit in a structure or resonant cavity, and have facing grooves for receiving and holding a sheet of insulating material in a plane substantially parallel to the coil winding portion. A metallic plate of predetermined size and location is positioned on the insulating sheet, and provided with a connection to an external circuit. The metallic plate provides capacitive coupling to a coil wound on the winding portion. This coupling is of predetermined magnitude and repeatable consistency, since identical coil forms can be made to hold their respective insulating sheets and metallic plates in the same location.
  • Battery Charger/Remote Control For Portable Radio Devices

    view source
  • US Patent:
    46738614, Jun 16, 1987
  • Filed:
    Apr 3, 1986
  • Appl. No.:
    6/847685
  • Inventors:
    George Dubovsky - Forest VA
Terry N. Garner - Lynchburg VA
  • Assignee:
General Electric Company - Lynchburg VA
  • International Classification:
    H02J 700
  • US Classification:
    320 2
  • Abstract:
A vehicular battery charger connects with a battery powered portable radio via plural electrical contacts including a so-called "universal device connector" (UDC). A battery contact interface is also provided. Battery charging current as well as auxiliary radio operating power is made available at the contact interfaces. In addition, the charger is capable of remotely controlling the modus operandi of the portable radio device so as, if desired, to convert the portable radio device to provide vehicular mobile or fixed base radio operations during the battery charging process. If such modified radio operation is desired, the battery charger detects current being drawn from the external radio power supply source (for supplying power to the radio operating circuits independently of the portable radio battery which is then being charged) and automatically reconfigures the portable radio device as needed to effect the vehicular mobile or fixed base operation.
