Abstract:

A liquid dishwashing detergent composition having improved glassware protection when employed in conjunction with cleaning materials having high concentrations of alkaline materials. The composition contains a soluble organic zinc compound which preferably is zinc gluconate and is particularly suited to fast cycle commercial (II) dishwashers. The zinc gluconate is prepared in situ or zinc and gluconic ions are provided in a batching process.

Abstract:

A general purpose hard surface cleaner concentrate comprising an organic solvent system comprising from about 1 to about 10% of an organic solvent selected from the group of alkylene and polyalkylene glycols and lower alkyl ethers of alkylene and polyalkylene glycols; from about 3 to 15% of a nonionic or anionic surfactant; from about 1 to about 10% of a builder system comprising 25 to 99% of a first builder and from about 5 to 65% of a second builder which is a polyacrylic resin having a molecular weight between about 500 to about 8,000; from about 1 to about 15% of a hydrotrope which is an alkali metal salt of a cyclohexene dicarboxylic acid, and water. The preferred hydrotrope is the potassium salt of 5 (or 6) carboxy-4-hexyl-2-cyclohexene-1-octanoic acid. In use the concentrate is diluted to a ratio of 10 to 150 parts water per part of the concentrate, although is useful full strength as a spot cleaner.

Abstract:

A polyacrylic resin which can be a polyacrylic acid or a mixture of a polyacrylic acid and an acrylic polymeric complex with a phosphinate or sulfur containing moiety is used as a builder in an aqueous glass cleaning composition of the spray-on wipe-off type containing an organic solvent system and at least one detergent surface active agent. Cleaning efficiency is comparable to and even superior to tetrasodium pyrophosphate built compositions.

Abstract:

A passive dispenser adapted for placement in a body of liquid for dispensing materials, such as toilet tank additives, e. g. , disinfectants, detergents, dyes, fragrances, and the like, in solution form from the dispenser in response to a lowering of the height of the body of liquid from a first elevation to a second elevation, the dispenser comprising two dispensing sections, the first dispensing section comprising a first product chamber containing a water-soluble cake, forming upon dissolution the first solution, and the second dispensing section comprising a second product chamber and a third product chamber, each said chamber containing a water-soluble cake, forming upon dissolution the second solution, the third chamber being disposed at least partially above the second chamber, there being fluid communication means therebetween, said second section being in separate relationship from the first section. When adapted for use as a toilet tank dispenser, the cake contained in the first section is a surfactant cake, containing in addition to one or more surface-active constituents optional ingredients such as dyes and fragrances, while the cakes contained in the second section are disinfectant cakes containing a halogen-releasing agent having a water solubility of less than 5. 0 gms. /100 gms. water at 77. degree. F.

Abstract:

This invention relates to drain cleaning compositions characterized by a pelletized form. Each pellet formed comprises aluminum; potassium or sodium nitrate; a binding material having a melting point of from about 37. degree. C. to about 67. degree. C. selected from the group consisting of polymers of polyethylene glycol, having a molecular weight of from about 3000 to about 20,000; polymers of ethylene oxide, having a molecular weight of from about 400,000 to about 2,000,000; aliphatic oxyethylated straight chain fatty alcohols having a molecular weight of about 260 to about 265 and containing about 80%, by weight, ethylene oxide; fatty acids having a carbon chain length of from about 10 to about 18 carbon atoms; alkali metal salts of gluconic acid; and mixtures thereof; at least about 1%, by weight, of an alkali metal hydroxide; and a sufficient amount of an additional compatible alkaline ingredient, whereby the total alkaline concentration present, expressed as sodium oxide, is at least about 11%, by weight.
