  • Assignee:
HRL Laboratories, LLC - Malibu CA
  • International Classification:
    H04J 1228
  • US Classification:
    370462, 370461
  • Abstract:
An apparatus, a method, and a computer program product for effective communication routing of unicast and broadcast data traffic in wireless ad-hoc networks are presented. The routing technique separates the signaling and data transmission portions of a data frame such that the length of the signaling portion is independent of the length of the data portion. In the signaling portion, reservations are able to be performed and confirmed, while the data portion also includes a reservation confirmation portion which allows reservations made in during the signaling portion of the frame to be confirmed immediately prior to transmission of the data. In addition, the present invention also provides a mechanism for dynamically adjusting reservations.

  • US Classification:
    370316, 370331, 370338, 455 131
  • Abstract:
A wireless hybrid network consisting at least one satellite and a plurality mobile ad hoc nodes. The nodes are assumed to be clustered into mobile groups within the footprint of the satellite , and the objective is to enable reliable communications between the various nodes. At least one relatively powerful gateway , also mobile, is deployed for each cluster of nodes to facilitate communication with a LEO or GEO satellite. The environment is characterized by the presence of terrestrial barriers or other severe channel impairments. One of the goals of the invention is to provide a mechanism by which a mobile gateway can change its position or define its trajectory based on the position and loading of the nodes in an ad hoc network, so as to optimize certain pre-defined performance criterion, such as power, overhead, throughput.

The baseband transmit processing module is operably coupled to encode outbound data into outbound baseband signals in accordance with one of a plurality of encoding protocols. The mixing module is operably coupled to convert the outbound baseband signals into outbound radio frequency signals. The power amplifier is operably coupled to amplify the outbound RF signals prior to transmission to produce amplified outbound RF signals. The transmit power sense module is operably coupled to sense the amplified outbound RF signals to provide a transmit signal strength indication (TSSI). The transmit power control module is operably coupled to adjust gain of the baseband transmit processing module, the mixing module, and/or the power amplifier based on the TSSI and the particular encoding protocol used to produce the baseband signals.

    H04L 27/00
  • US Classification:
    375295, 375259
  • Abstract:
Methods, devices and systems for wireless communication generate signals by determining whether legacy devices are within a proximal region of the wireless communication. When at least one legacy device is within the proximal region, a frame is formatted to include a preamble field, a signal field, and a data field. Further, the uncoded bits are encoded according to a coding format. The coding format is determined according to bits in the preamble and applicable sub-field lengths.
