Abstract:

A transmission system and a receiver system enable an internet experience with enhanced content regulation and simplicity. The transmission system comprises a buffer memory storing data-to-be-transmitted which contains channel information. The transmission system further comprises a transmitter for transmitting the stored data based on the channel information, and a repeater coupled to the buffer memory and to the transmitter for repeatedly sending the stored data from the buffer memory to the transmitter. The receiver system comprises a receiver for receiving data packets being transmitted on the multiple channels, a device coupled to the receiver for extracting a data packet from the received data packets based on a comparison of the received data packets and desired packet identification information. The receiver system further comprises a browser coupled to the device for enabling presentation of an extracted data packet, and for enabling selection of an option. The receiver still further comprises a control engine coupled to the browser for managing the desired packet identification information based on the extracted data packet and based on option selection.

Abstract:

A method for providing efficient use of a transmit engine in transmitting packet directing information. In one embodiment, two linked lists are used to submit packets and packet directing information to a transmit engine. When there is no packet to send, both lists are marked as free. When software desires to send a packet to hardware, the packet is placed on the first linked list. Software marks the first linked list as busy. If the transmit engine is not busy with the second linked list, software will start the transmit engine utilizing the first linked list. While the first linked list is marked as busy, all additional packets are directed to the second linked list. When the packets of the first linked list have been sent, software marks the first linked list as free.

Abstract:

An authentication process for an endpoint device uses a pair of tokens. Tokens are generated at an authentication server that maintains a data store of token states, where the states are defined to include a “normal” state sequence along which a token is expected to advance. The endpoint device can store a token pair in non-volatile local storage. To authenticate, the endpoint device can provide its stored token pair to the authentication server, which can determine whether authentication succeeds based on the states of the tokens in the token pair. After successful authentication, the authentication server can provide a new token pair to the endpoint device and advance the token states along the normal sequence. When the endpoint device confirms receipt of the new token pair, which replaces the previous token pair, the authentication server can advance the state of the tokens again.
