Abstract:

In one embodiment a high power interface apparatus is provided having a multilayer laminated cable including force conductor planes having flush and recessed portions and return conductor planes having flush and recessed portions. The flush portions of the conductor planes extend to a contact end of the laminated cable and the recessed portions are removed from the contact end. The flush portions are aligned along axes at the contact end. The flush portions of the return conductor planes are aligned at the contact end along axes aligned within recessed portions of the force conductor planes. A dielectric material separates the force and return conductor planes. Surface contact pads may be provided on the contact end including force contact pads, each contacting and extending along aligned flush portions of the force conductor planes, and including return conductor pads, each contacting and extending along aligned flush portions of the return conductor planes. The contact pads may be formed by plating the end, and then scoring. The multilayer laminate cable can be formed with a rigid portion near the contact end and a flexible portion between the cable ends.

Abstract:

A mobile sea barge having a unitary lower hull which has sufficient buoyancy to float the entire barge, an upper hull spaced from the lower hull by a single, centrally-positioned, vertical member, and a movable stabilizing hull arranged about the central support member for controlled movement between the upper and lower hulls is provided. Controlled movement of the stabilizing hull permits the operational modes of submerging and emerging of the lower hull into or from a bottom-founded gravity-forced mode from which drilling operations can be carried out. In the bottom-founded mode on the sea floor the barge functions as a gravity platform. Movement of the stabilizing hull is provided by a plurality of jacking legs and jacking units which constitute the control devices. The barge can be quickly switched between the surface-floating and the gravity-forced, bottom-founded modes. Controlled vertical descent to the sea floor is provided by the static stability of the stabilizing hull.

Abstract:

A hobby-style metal detector includes a two-piece stem interconnected by a hand grip and provided with an arm rest. A search coil is positioned at the lower end of the first section of the stem and an electronic housing is mounted on the first stem section near the hand grip. A metal detector circuit, a display and operator controls are provided with the electronic housing. A second housing is detachably connected to the second section of the stem in conjunction with the arm rest. The second housing contains batteries and can be detached and clipped to the operator's belt to reduce the weight carried by the operator's arm. A speaker can further be included within the second housing thereby removing additional weight from the arm carried unit. A cable is provided to extend from the second housing to the electronic package for providing the battery power to the metal detector circuit. When a speaker is provided in the second housing, a further line is provided in the cable for the detection signal.
