    B21D 43/05
  • US Classification:
    7240509, 7240501, 72 60, 1986211
  • Abstract:
A transfer assembly () for moving a work-piece () between stations of a hydroforming and/or hydrotrimming assembly. The transfer assembly () includes left and right posts () spaced from and parallel to each other and extending vertically. A left top arm () and a left bottom arm () and a right top arm () and a right bottom arm () extend in spaced and parallel relationship with each other transversely to the posts () to distal ends (). An upper rail () extends between the distal ends () of the top arms () and a lower rail () extends between the distal ends () of the bottom arms (). The rails () each include a plurality of part grabbers () for engaging the work-piece (). A transfer module interconnects each arm with the associated post for moving the arms () vertically up and down and for moving the arms () in and out. A rail transfer module () interconnects each arm with the associated rail for moving the rails () side-to-side.

  • Filed:
    Mar 27, 2003
  • Appl. No.:
    10/401934
  • Inventors:
Glen Coalson - Troy MI, US
  • International Classification:
    B21J011/00
  • US Classification:
    072/405090
  • Abstract:
A workpiece transfer assembly () moves workpieces through a press () and includes a pair of spaced pulleys () and an endless belt () entrained about the pulleys () and a clamp () connecting the belt () to a trolley () for horizontally moving a pair of trolleys () and the arms () supported thereby. The clamp () is clamped to one reach of the endless belt () for moving back and forth along the between the pulleys (). A biasing device () urges a male cam member () into driving engagement with a female cam member () to connect the belt () and the arms () and allows the cam members (and ) to react with one another in a camming fashion to move out of the driving engagement to allow the belt () to move without moving the arms () in response to the predetermined force resisting movement of the arms ().
