Abstract:

A low-profile lifting apparatus (10) for hoisting and moving objects along an I-beam (12), comprising a frame assembly (20), a drive system (44), a pulley assembly (56), and a hoist assembly (66). The drive system (44) includes a first drive roller (48), and a second drive roller (49) operatively connected to each other and positioned on opposite sides of the web (14) to drive the lifting apparatus (10) along the lower flange (16). The drive mechanism (50) includes a pulley chain (62) that is manually pulled by an operator to rotate the drive shaft (60) and the attached drive rollers (48) and (49). A block (74) has a hook (76) positioned laterally on one side of the lateral centerpoint (82) nearest the chain hoist (68). The load chain (86) passes downward from the frame assembly (20) to the pulley wheel (78), then back to the frame assembly (20), and laterally beneath the lower flange (16) to the frame assembly (20), then down to the pulley wheel (80) on the block (74), then back to the frame assembly (20) where it engages the chain hoist (68).

Abstract:

A monorail carriage for use with H-beams wherein carriage rollers mounted on frame-cantilevered shafts remain in continuing full-length running engagement with the monorail beam flanges throughout varying downward load deflection of such flanges. Rockable roller bearing elements at opposite ends of each roller include one which is spring loaded so as to force translation or displacement of the roller in response to flange deflection so as to maintain such full-length contact of the roller with the beam flange, although with attendant shift of the center of pressure lengthwise of the roller on the track flange.

Abstract:

A pendant for controlling the energization of pneumatic motors that position an overhead crane trolley and raise and lower an object supported by a hoist mounted on the trolley is disclosed. The pneumatic pendant includes a moisture-proof housing (11) and a plurality of manually actuated pneumatic control valves mounted in the housing. The control valves include a start/stop valve (69) and direction valves (119a-d) for directing forward and reverse air pressure to the crane trolley motor, and up and down air pressure to the hoist motor.

Abstract:

A levelwind mechanism (11) for controlling the fleet angle of a cable as the cable (15) is spooled onto a winch drum (13) is disclosed. The levelwind mechanism (11) includes a horizontally oriented square guide bar (21) mounted parallel to the axis of rotation of the drum. Located on the lower surface of the guide bar is an elongate rack (23). Encircling the guide bar is a frame (25) that supports a fleet angle sensor (107), cable guide rollers (97), an air motor (47) and a gear train (49). The gear train (49) couples the air motor (47) to the rack (23) such that energization of the air motor (47) causes the frame (25) to slide along the rack (23). When the fleet angle sensor (107) senses a fleet angle exceeding a predetermined value, the air motor (47) is energized to rotate the gears of the gear train (49) in the direction that reduces the fleet angle to an acceptable value.

Abstract:

A hand-operated chain block having a hand chain wheel portion light in weight and simplified in construction and which permits safe and smooth hand chain operation. A hand chain wheel cover is mounted on a plurality of stays disposed on side plates of a chain block body in such a manner as to cover the upper, lower and front portions of the hand chain wheel, and a pair of hand chain guide plates are mounted on an upper pair of stays to cover the side portions of the hand chain wheel, thereby covering substantially the entire periphery of the hand chain wheel. Each of the hand chain guide plates is formed of one metal plate in a folded pattern, and the pivotal support portion at its upper end part is inserted into the upper stay, and the hand chain guide plate is oscillatably suspended and supported, while a hand chain wound around the hand chain wheel is inserted through a hand chain guide portion formed at the lower end portion so as to be guided. A guide plate fixing member is detachably fitted to a lower stay to simultaneously fix the lower end portion of each of the hand chain guide plate.
