In Losing Paul DeJong, the Cardinals Discovered a Real Talent In Yairo Munoz
Veterans Jedd Gyorko and Greg Garcia were in-house possibilities. Maybe the Cardinals would take a second look at rookie Yairo Munoz, the surprise star of spring training who made the 25-man roster to open the season. But Munoz, 23, wasnt ready for the big leagues. In his first 20 MLB plate appeara
and Rhys Hoskins in left-center field, giving the Cardinals their best scoring chance with runners on second and third and one out. Seranthony Dominguez came on in relief to induce a ground ball to a drawn-in infield by Francisco Pena and a flyout by Greg Garcia to keep the Cardinals off the board.
The 2nd inning included a 2-out walk by Greg Garcia and a somewhat inexplicable caught stealing attempt with Francisco Pena up. I suppose the odds of Garcia scoring with two outs with Pena and then Martinez coming up were incredibly low odds, but then again not sure three career stolen bases Greg Gthe 4th, Jose led off with a walk, but didnt get past first base by the end of the inning. The top of the 5th was an inning that was not exactly Carlos fault. Brian Dozier got on first from an error on Greg Garcia. After two straight outs, Rosario got a two-base error from an error on Jose. Gr
While third baseman Jedd Gyorko came off the disabled list after missing two weeks with hamstring injury, Matheny elected to keep him out of the lineup. Greg Garcia started at third on Tuesday with Matt Carpenter playing at second in place of struggling Kolten Wong. Were trying to put pieces together to try to make it look right, Matheny told reporters Wednesday, according to MLB.com. Greg Garcia will be a part of it. Jedd Gyorko will be a part of it soon. And Kolten Wong is going to continue to be a part of it, but there are things to work on.

Cards complete sweep of Reds on rainy day in 3-2 win
walked out of the box, I guess thinking he had hit a homer. Combine that with his speed, and he was easily gunned at 2nd base. Considering power hitter Greg Garcia walked immediately after, the Cardinals certainly could have scored more runs in that inning without the baserunning blunder.

Cardinals experience Groundhog Day in 6-2 loss to Mets
singles from Yadier Molina and DeJong. Kolten Wong tried to bunt for a hit, and then hit a ball towards the first base line that did the same job as the bunt, bringing runners to 2nd and 3rd. Greg Garcia pinch-hit instead of Gyorko in what I would describe as a peculiar move. I like Greg Garcia.
