Abstract:
A multiple section, front-folding implement has gauge wheel assemblies located on the front side of laterally extending beams of the sections during field operations. As the wing sections are folded forwardly to prepare the machine for transport, the gauge wheel assemblies are simultaneously swung around to the ends of the beams into outboard positions so that they extend generally forwardly from the beams when the beams are fully folded. Thus, instead of taking up space between the folded beams, the gauge wheel assemblies are moved into clearance positions that enable the wing sections to be folded more closely together, reducing the overall roading width of the machine when folded.

Abstract:
A seed furrow closing wheel has a generally dish-shaped body defined by a central portion and a notched outer flange portion that circumscribes the central portion and projects obliquely outwardly from the plane thereof. The notched flange portion is configured to present a series of circumferentially spaced, non-radial, obliquely projecting teeth that function to fragment and squeeze together opposite sidewalls of the seed furrow when a pair of the wheels are rolled along opposite sides of the furrow outboard of the furrow itself, crumbling the sidewalls and covering the seeds.

Abstract:
A preferred embodiment of the hose coupling includes an exterior, annular rib on the tubular inlet member to which the hose is to be connected. A resilient boot fixed to the end of the hose has a skirt that extends beyond the end of the hose and is adapted to receive and circumscribe the ribbed end of the inlet member. The skirt and ribbed end of the member are so dimensioned that in order to receive the member, the skirt must be stretched radially outwardly by the rib as the skirt is forced onto the inlet member. When the skirt is fully seated upon the inlet member, the rib becomes received within an annular groove inside the skirt and the skirt relaxes to its original dimension. A lock ring circumscribing the boot may be shifted from an unlocked position inboard of the groove to a locked position outboard of the groove, wherein the ring prevents expansion of the skirt to thereby effectively lock the rib within the retaining groove.

Abstract:
A seeding machine has a common, bulk seed container that supplies a number of independent openers, each of which is provided with its own separate metering device. Each metering device is gravity-fed through a telescoping supply tube connected between the top of the metering device and the bottom of the seed container. Each metering device has a relative narrow metering wheel rotatable about a transverse horizontal axis that is provided with one or more rows of seed pockets on its outermost peripheral edge. As the wheel rotates upwardly through a pool of incoming seeds that have collected generally above the wheel in a seed chamber inside the metering device, the pockets become filled by gravity with seeds and then successively discharged at the bottom of the downsweep side of the wheel. Spring-loaded retaining structure along the downsweep side of the wheel keeps the seeds within their respective pockets until the pockets reach the discharge outlet at the bottom of the meter, whereupon the seeds gravitate freely from the wheel in succession and are directed to the ground.

Abstract:
A metering device for dispensing agricultural product from a bin. The metering device comprises a housing enclosing an interior space, and a metering assembly removably received within the interior space of the housing. The metering assembly is configured to convey agricultural product through the metering device. The metering assembly comprises a rotatable sub-shaft, a first metering wheel positioned on the sub-shaft and configured to rotate with the sub-shaft, a second metering wheel positioned on the sub-shaft and configured to rotate with the sub-shaft, and a dividing element positioned on the sub-shaft between the first metering wheel and the second metering wheel.

Abstract:
A distribution tower comprising an upright conduit for pneumatically conveying particulate material in a primary stream. The tower additionally includes a distribution head at the upper end of the conduit, with the distribution head comprising a plenum chamber for receiving the primary stream of particulate material from the conduit. The distribution head further comprises a plurality of discharge outlets for directing particulate material out of the plenum chamber by splitting the primary stream into a plurality of secondary streams. Each of the secondary streams is discharged from the distribution head via one of the discharge outlets. The tower additionally includes a flow adjustment system configured to adjust a distribution of particulate material between the secondary streams without completely restricting the flow of any of the secondary streams through their respective discharge outlet. The tower further includes a control system for controlling operation of said flow adjustment system.

Abstract:
Systems for mounting a plurality of agricultural tools on a transverse support bar and a method for operating an agricultural implement having a transverse support bar are disclosed. The systems include a lateral positioning structure that can attach to the transverse support bar and a detachable base that can be releasably coupled to the lateral positioning structure.
