Abstract:

An apparatus for generating an air stream that is substantially-columnated about a given axis includes a converging-diverging nozzle, a manifold in fluid communication with the nozzle, and a compressor supplying a quantity of compressed air to the manifold to induce a first air flow through the nozzle. The first air flow is characterized by sonic flow at the nozzle throat and supersonic flow at the nozzle exit. The supersonic first air flow exiting the nozzle is directed into one end of an elongate tube. The thus-directed first air flow induces a second flow of ambient air into the one end of the tube. The first air flow mixes with the second air flow within the tube and exits as an air stream that is substantially columnated about the axis of the tube.

Abstract:

A decompression panel assembly for use in a partition of an aircraft is disclosed. The decompression panel assembly includes a panel member that fits over a decompression vent opening in a partition. The panel member includes multiple holes. The same number of cover plates are positioned to cover the holes and are held in place by retainer elements. The retainer elements are made from a thin gauged metal material and secure the cover plates over the holes. Several retaining spring clips are positioned about the perimeter of the panel member and secure the decompression panel assembly against the partition to cover the decompression vent opening.

Abstract:

A filter for coalescing water and removing odor from air includes a water coalescing layer made of a synthetic fiber and an odor removal layer including an adsorbent material that operatively interfaces the coalescing layer. The coalescing and removal layers are shaped to receive and expel the air. Both layers can be supported by a frame and/or an outer support layer of polyester material.
