Incorrect placement of lines can inject drugs into soft tissue instead of the blood stream, but the drugs used to kill Joseph Woods went into the veins of his arms, said Gregory Hess of the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office.
Forensic pathologist Dr. Gregory Hess, of the Pinal County Medical Examiner's Office, said the cause of death was "amitriptyline intoxication." Amitriptyline is one of a variety of antidepressant medications.
Examiner's Office and the Binational Migration Institute started collaborating in 2005 to track migrant deaths. Gregory Hess, Pima County's chief medical examiner, said his office works to identify remains found in the majority of southern Arizona counties but not, with some exceptions, Yuma County.

The bodies were positively identified as James and Yafit (YUH'-feet) Butwin using dental records because their bodies were burned beyond recognition, said Gregory Hess, chief medical examiner for Pima County.
