Abstract:

An intraruminal device is provided for the time release dispensation of a medicament to a ruminant. The device has no metal parts which may damage slaughterhouse equipment or injure a human upon consumption of ground meat from a ruminant from which the device was not properly removed. The device may use a nonmetallic bladder assembly having a to supply a compressive force to the medicament matrix to keep the matrix abutted against the first end of the device. The device may also use a piston to create a fluid-tight seal allowing part of the device to be pressurized, allowing the piston to provide a compressive force to the medicament matrix. The matrix surface at the first end is exposed to ruminal juices for dissolution of the matrix and dispensation of the medicament into the rumen.

A dispenser is provided. The dispenser has a reservoir for storing a liquid or solid material. The dispenser may have a piezoelectric valve or pump located in an opening of the reservoir for regulating dispensing of the material. Alternatively, the dispenser may have a piezoelectric inchworm that directly or indirectly propels the material against or out of the opening. The opening may deposit the material directly or indirectly on the surface of an animal, or under the animal's skin. The dispenser also can be attached to the surface of the animal. Alternatively, the dispenser may be placed inside the animal.

Abstract:

A dispenser that delivers a small but consistent and sustained amount of fluid over an extended period of time, particularly useful but not limited to dispensing pesticides when worn by cattle. The dispenser has a shell having an opening. A reservoir is disposed in the shell and is saturated with a pesticide. A wick is in fluid communication with the reservoir. The wick extends through the opening and has a greater capillary attraction or wicking ability than the reservoir, whereby during use of the dispenser the wick draws fluid from the reservoir and deposits it upon contact.

Abstract:

A receptacle housing for insertion into an opening of a receiving member, the receptacle housing comprising a plurality of surfaces including a front, right side and a left side surface. The receptacle housing having a cavity in the front surface thereof for receiving a connector. The receptacle housing having a protrusion on each of the right and left side surfaces, each protrusion ending with an edge, the protrusion permits the receptacle housing to slide through the receiving member. A lip is located around the front side surface of the receptacle housing. The receptacle housing is secured into an opening in the receiving member by the interaction of the lip around the front side surface and the edge on the protrusion. In addition, the plurality of surfaces are made from a polymer based material and both the plurality of surfaces and the cavity in the front surface thereof for receiving a connector, may be coated with a conductive material such as chrome or copper-nickel to provide shielding from electromagnetic interference.
