Abstract:

A method of ejecting containers from a blow mold comprises the steps of: opening a blow mold containing containers, the blow mold comprising a pair of pistons having a head and a heel, an end cap disposed behind the heel, and a pair of ejector rods, each ejector rod coupled to a different piston; simultaneously with the opening forcing a fluid against each head of each of the pair of pistons, extending each of the ejector rods to maintain contact with an opposite side of a center portion of the containers in the blow mold and pushing the containers from the blow mold; and forcing a fluid against the heel of each of the pair of pistons operative to retract the pair of ejector rods away from the containers when the containers are separated from the blow mold.

Abstract:

In one embodiment, an analog-to-digital conversion in an integrated circuit is evaluated by an on-die testing circuit. For example, the on-die test circuit can characterize one or both of the linearity and monotonicity of the digital-to-analog conversion. The value of a conversion output for a digital input code may be compared to the value of a prior conversion output of a prior step to provide digital difference values for each step of a sweep of digital input codes. Digital difference values may be compared to one or more predetermined limits to provide one or more pass/fail tests on-board the die. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract:

An apparatus (′) and a machine () for reforming a portion of a plastic package () using induction heating. The apparatus and machine comprise a frame () engaging the plastic package and a workpiece support () having an electrically conducting workpiece (). An induction workhead () provides an alternating current power supply to an induction element (). The induction element is positioned proximate the workpiece of the workpiece support and heats the workpiece via induction. A mechanism () positions the plastic package proximate the heated workpiece so that the workpiece transfers heat to the portion of the plastic package thereby softening the portion. A forming die () supported on the frame engages the portion to reform the portion. Also provided is a process of using the apparatus and machine to reform a portion of a plastic package using induction heating.

Abstract:

A method for making a multi-layer plastic preform employs blow molding air into the multi-layer parison until an outer layer of the multi-layer parison rests against the preform mold and thereafter inserting a compression core sized to fit the pre-blown preform to smooth the inner layer of the blown parison and finish the preform. A system for making a multi-layer plastic preform includes a blow stem assembly having a device for introducing air into a multi-layer parison captured by a preform mold in a blow-mold operation, and a compression preform core attached to an end of a compression rod wherein when the compression preform core is retracted into the device, air can be blown into the preform mold and when, the compression rod extends in a stroke through the device, the compression preform core extends out of the device into the preform mold.

A mold pair for molding a plastic container from a parison is provided. The mold pair has a first mold half and a second mold half. The first mold half has a cavity for forming the container, and a flash cooling system. The flash cooling system has a plurality of air distribution jets formed in the first mold half and for directing cooling air to a waste portion of the parison, and an air manifold formed in the first mold half and for directing the cooling air to the plurality of air distribution jets. The second mold half has a cavity for forming the container.
