Abstract:

A sun visor assembly, wherein the sun visor thereof includes a vanity mirror and vanity lighting, wherein the functionally thereof is characterized by the sun visor being pivotal, rotatable and axially slidable relative to its mounting, wherein a slide mechanism supplies electrical power to the vanity lighting at all slide positions, and wherein power delivery is mechanically dependable and electrically reliable via an electrical slide component of the slide mechanism. Additionally the sun visor assembly according to the present invention optionally includes selectively illuminable, integrated reading lights at a bottom periphery thereof.

Abstract:

The sunvisor attachment apparatus of the present invention includes a mounting bezel configured to retain a sunvisor sub-assembly. The mounting bezel includes an alignment protrusion adapted to align the mounting bezel relative to the vehicle. The alignment protrusion includes a mounting clip configured to temporarily retain the mounting bezel to the vehicle. The mounting bezel also includes an attachment boss positioned to align with a complementary attachment feature of the vehicle when the mounting bezel is aligned with the vehicle. The sunvisor attachment apparatus also includes a fastener configured to more permanently attach the mounting bezel to the vehicle. Advantageously, the temporary retention of the mounting bezel to the vehicle allows the fastener to be driven to more permanently attach the mounting bezel to the vehicle in a simplified hands-free manner.

An active material-enabled overhead protection system () for protecting the occupants of vehicles () with overhead glass (), such as sunroofs or panoramic windshields, during rollover events. The system () includes a protective structure () and a deployment device (). The protective structure () has a stowed condition in which it does not obstruct the overhead glass (), and a deployed condition in which it is interposed between the overhead glass () and the heads of the occupants of the vehicle (). The deployment device () moves the protective structure () from the stowed condition to the deployed condition. The deployment device () includes a trigger () operable to initiate movement of the protective structure (), and the trigger () includes an active material which can change shape in response to an actuation signal, and the change in shape initiates deployment of the protective structure ().

Abstract:

An interior lighting arrangement for automotive use comprises an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) encapsulated in a light diffusing material disposed in a frame with a lens overlying the light diffusing material, the array of LEDs and the frame. Preferably, the light diffusing material is translucent epoxy and the lens is grated to further diffuse and direct light. In accordance with one embodiment of the LED lighting arrangement, the lighting arrangement is in combination with a sun visor to illuminate a vanity mirror.

Abstract:

A shade assembly for a vehicle is provided that includes a shade member that is “integrated” or “hidden” within vehicle body structure when not in use and yet is easily movable to a use position in which it covers a portion of an adjacent window. Specifically, a shade assembly is provided that includes vehicle body structure at least partially defining a body cavity. A shade member is operatively connected to the vehicle body structure and is configured to selectively move between a stowed position and a use position. The shade member at least partially covers a surface of the window in the use position. The window is substantially uncovered by the shade member in the stowed position because the shade member is nested in the cavity within the body structure.

A portable foot shower as disclosed comprising a base member for supporting the user's feet and an operably interconnected swivel shower spray head for washing dirt and particulate from the user's feet through a plurality of slots in the base. Abstract:

Methods and apparatus are provided for attaching a first device to a second device. The method includes providing an attachment structure for attaching the first device to the second device that includes a fastener that is movable from a first position to a second position within the attachment structure, moving the first device into position to be attached to the second device with the fastener in the first position, obscuring an attachment detection window with a window barrier fixed to the fastener, securing the first device to the second device by sliding the fastener from the first position to the second position, locking the fastener in the second position, revealing the attachment detection window when the fastener is locked in the second position, and reading the attachment detection window to detect that the first device has been properly attached to the second device.
