Abstract:
An offshore structure for placement on a sea floor in a body of water containing moving ice masses, which impart Environmental Loads to the structure; the offshore structure includes a base which contacts the sea floor, the base having sufficient horizontal cross-sectional area such that a bearing pressure and a horizontal shear force, which result from Environmental Loads and which are transferred to the sea floor foundation by the foundation base, are less than at least one of a predetermined shear capacity and a predetermined bearing capacity for the sea floor foundation; and a hollow, watertight topside structure located at or above the waterline of the body which is supported by a support shaft extending vertically from the base through the topside structure.
A sleeve, suitable for temporary use on a tendon for a tension leg platform (TLP) equipped with a bottom tendon connector, covers selected portions of the tendon and bottom tendon connector so as to provide an outer surface having fewer and/or less pronounced discontinuities in the outer diameter of the assembly. This improves the handling characteristics of the assembly in pipe tensioning devices and the like. The sleeve may be in form of split halves which may be held together around the selected portion of the tendon by band straps. The sleeve may be removed subsea by cutting the band straps using an ROV. In certain embodiments, the sleeve comprises an open frame arrangement of contoured segments held in a spaced-apart configuration by bolt-together or hinged clamps. The sleeve may provide an annular space between the tendon and the sleeve which may be used to house a flotation device.
Dry Tree Semi-Submersible With Reduced-Height Drilling Floor
A floating, semi-submersible offshore drilling vessel has a blowout preventer located on the semi-submersible instead of on the seabed. The mud return housing is attached directly to the blowout preventer without the use of a slip joint. This configuration allows for a significantly reduced drill floor height and, consequently, a lower vertical center of gravity for the rig.

Abstract:
The instant invention provides a polymeric blend composition, injection molded articles, films and sheets made therefrom. The polymeric blend composition according to the present invention comprises: (a) a first component selected from the group consisting of an ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer and a propylene/ethylene copolymer; wherein said ethylene/alpha-olefin co-polymer has density in the range of from 0.857 to 0.902 g/cm, a melt index (I) in the range of from 0.5 to 30 g/10 minutes, a DCS melting point temperature (second heat) in the range of from 40 to 99 C., a heat of fusion in the range of from 18 to 108 Jg, and a crystallinity in the range of from 6 to 37 weight percent; and wherein propylene/ethylene copolymer has a melt flow rate in the range of from 1 to 30 g/10 minutes, a DCS melting point temperature (second heat) in the range of from 55 to 85 C., a heat of fusion in the range of from 10 to 40 Jg, and a crystallinity in the range of from 6 to 21 weight percent; and (b) less than 40 percent by weight of a second component comprising an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer comprising from 9 to 40 percent by weight of units derived from vinyl acetate, and wherein said ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer has a melt index (I) in the range of from 0.2 to 20 g/10 minutes; wherein Δis less than 0.003, and wherein Δis the absolute value of the difference between the refractive index of (a) and (b); and wherein dielectric loss factor of the polymeric blend composition is, equal to, or greater than, 0.024, for example in the range of greater than 0.024 to 0.15.
