Abstract:

Communicating a call having a number of dialogs includes initiating a call between a first endpoint and a second endpoint. A first connection for a primary dialog of the call is established according to a feature. The first endpoint determines that the primary dialog has reached a predetermined state, and determines whether the second endpoint is operable to accept the second connection for the secondary dialog. The second connection for the secondary dialog is established if the second endpoint is operable to accept the second connection.

Abstract:

A system and methodology for name searches is described. In one embodiment, for example, a method is described for determining whether a particular name comprising one or more words matches any names on a list of names, the method comprises steps of: generating codes characterizing the particular name by generating a code for each word of the particular name that is based at least in part on phonetic sounds of the word and on whether characters of the word match a pattern occurring in a proper name in a given natural language; deriving an initial set of any matching names by comparing the codes of the particular name against corresponding codes for the list of names; and deriving a final set of any matching names by comparing words of the particular name against words of names in the initial set.

Abstract:

A ship motion prediction system is described that includes a plurality of surface platforms and a central computer having a communications interface. The platforms each include a propulsion system for movement of the platform, a plurality of sensors operable for gathering sensor data relating to an environment proximate the platform, a processing device communicatively coupled to the propulsion system and the plurality of sensors, and a transceiver communicatively coupled to the processing device. The central computer includes a communications interface, and the processing device is programmed to transmit sensor data to the central computer via the transceiver and the communications interface. The central computer is programmed to transmit commands for operation of the propulsion system to the processing device via the communications interface and transceiver. The central computer is further programmed to predict an effect of the environments associated with the plurality of surface platforms on a water vessel or vessels operating within a vicinity of the plurality of surface platforms.

The different advantageous embodiments provide an apparatus comprising a sensor system, a computer system, and a satellite transceiver. The sensor system is configured to monitor time, position, heading, motions, environmental conditions, and performance data for a vessel and generate data about the vessel and an environment around the vessel.
