  • Multi-Roll Fusing System

    view source
  • US Patent:
    45264597, Jul 2, 1985
  • Filed:
    Dec 26, 1979
  • Appl. No.:
    6/107967
  • Inventors:
Herbert L. Bresnick - Honeoye Falls NY
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
  • International Classification:
    G03G 1520
  • US Classification:
    355 3FU
  • Abstract:
An improved fusing system for fusing toner images to copy sheets has a first roll and second and third rolls each in contact with the first roll to form a first nip between the first and second rolls and a second nip between the first and third rolls. Dual paper paths are provided with first feed means for feeding copy sheets to the first nip and second feed means for feeding copy sheets to the second nip. This permits copy sheets to pass through the fusing system in different directions which is important when there are paper path constraints as in duplex systems.
  • Corona Current Interrupter

    view source
  • US Patent:
    39809293, Sep 14, 1976
  • Filed:
    Jul 7, 1975
  • Appl. No.:
    5/593914
  • Inventors:
Herbert L. Bresnick - Rochester NY
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
  • International Classification:
    H02H 308
  • US Classification:
    317 16
  • Abstract:
In an electrostatographic copier in which an imaging surface is corona charged by high voltage biased electrodes, particularly those in which corona wires overly a reusable photoreceptor, protection of the imaging surface from arcing from the corona electrodes, particularly in the case of corona wire breakage, is provided by automatic rapid interruption of the high voltage to the electrodes, by electrically detecting a sudden change in the current to the electrode. This detection is accomplished at low voltage levels, yet with appropriate circuitry the high voltage can be rapidly switched off or shorted to ground. Simple, low cost exemplary circuits using high speed relays or gas discharge tubes controlled by current change detectors are disclosed. Detection of sudden changes in the true electrode-to-imaging surface current, independent of changes in electrode-to-shield currents is provided.
  • Electrostatic Processor Having Interchangable Reservoirs For Supplying And Reclaiming Toner

    view source
  • US Patent:
    39588785, May 25, 1976
  • Filed:
    Nov 20, 1974
  • Appl. No.:
    5/525438
  • Inventors:
Richard E. Smith - Webster NY
Herbert L. Bresnick - Rochester NY
  • Assignee:
    Xerox Corporation - Stamford CT
  • International Classification:
    G03G 1500
  • US Classification:
    355 15
  • Abstract:
A toner dispenser for a development system of an electrostatic processor has a removable reservoir which mates with a collar on a pivotally mounted hopper containing a dispensing roll. The reservoir may be slid into or out of the collar while upright, but after it is mounted the hopper is rotated to invert the reservoir so that there then is a gravitational flow of toner to the dispensing roll. Advantageously, the processor has two identically configured reservoirs, one for the toner dispenser as described above and the other for collecting the residual toner recovered at a cleaning station. In that event, the residual toner can be reclaimed simply by using the latter reservoir as a replacement for the former one.
