  • US Patent:
    45194327, May 28, 1985
  • Filed:
    Feb 8, 1984
  • Appl. No.:
    6/577960
  • Inventors:
Andreas R. Schmidt - Reinach, CH
Herbert F. Strohmayer - Allentown PA
    Walter Sibral - Tulln, AT
    Barton Milligan - Coplay PA
  • Assignee:
    Lim International S.A.
  • International Classification:
    B60C 900
    B60C 100
  • US Classification:
    152357A
  • Abstract:
This invention relates to reinforced tire utilizing polyurea or polyurethane formulations having low hysteresis. The polymer having low hysteresis is formed by reacting a prepolymer of an aromatic isocyanate and a high molecular weight difunctional polyol with a chain extender mix comprising an aromatic diamine and difunctional polyol. In these compositions the aromatic diisocyanate and aromatic diamine are selected so that there is substantial symmetry between the molecules. The reinforcement used is preferably an aromatic polyamide.

  • US Patent:
    49469258, Aug 7, 1990
  • Filed:
    Dec 1, 1989
  • Appl. No.:
    7/444492
  • Inventors:
Herbert F. Strohmayer - Allentown PA
Jeremiah P. Casey - Emmaus PA
Peter A. Lucas - Allentown PA
  • Assignee:
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. - Allentown PA
  • International Classification:
    C08G 5950
  • US Classification:
    528122
  • Abstract:
This invention relates to bridged cyclohexylamines represented by the formula: ##STR1## A is C. sub. 0, --CH. sub. 2 --, ##STR2## R. sub. 1 is C. sub. 1-3 alkyl R. sub. 2 is C. sub. 1-6 alkyl R. sub. 3 is C. sub. 1 or C. sub. 2 alkyl R. sub. 4 is H or C. sub. 1-4 alkyl x is 0 or 1 y is 0 or 1 These bridged bis(cyclohexylamine) derivatives are well suited as curing agents for epoxy resins. These compositions lead to enhanced processing of the epoxy resin and permit adjustment of the reactivity/performance in formulating epoxies which demonstrate superior high temperature properties.

  • US Patent:
    45074593, Mar 26, 1985
  • Filed:
    Feb 8, 1984
  • Appl. No.:
    6/578240
  • Inventors:
Andreas R. Schmidt - Reinach, CH
Herbert F. Strohmayer - Allentown PA

  • International Classification:
    C08G 1810
    C08G 1832
  • US Classification:
    528 64
  • Abstract:
This invention pertains to the synthesis of polyurethane systems having low hysteresis. The systems are generated by reacting a prepolymer of a mononuclear diisocyanate and a polyol with a chain extender mix of a mononuclear aromatic diamine and a polyol. The prepolymer should have a free isocyanate content of from 2 to about 12% by weight and the chain extender mix should have an amine to polyol equivalent from about 0. 5 to 5:1.
