A marine jet drive, for a boat having a transom and a drive shaft extending through the transom, the boat afloat in a water body, includes a support casing disposed aft of the transom and a pump shaft within the support casing, the pump shaft having an end connectable to the drive shaft. The jet drive includes a jet pump having a chamber and a blade coupled to a portion of the pump shaft extending into the chamber. The chamber is attached to and supported by the support casing aft of the support casing. The chamber has an inlet for receiving water into the chamber and an outlet. The blade is coupled to the portion of the pump shaft for co acting with the chamber to draw water into the chamber inlet and discharge water in a reactive jet out the chamber outlet to reactively propel the boat.
Apparatus for buffing articles, such as leather goods, silverware and the like. The apparatus includes a container for receiving an article to be buffed. The interior of the container has a buffing material therein and is of a size to permit relative movement of the article and the buffing material so that, when the container is moved about, such as in the drum of a clothes dryer, the article and the buffing material move continuously into frictional engagement with each other causing a buffing action to occur. Several embodiments of the container are disclosed. A clothes dryer can be used for moving the container. In the alternative, a coin operated drum can be provided.
A marine outdrive attachable to the transom of a boat having an inboard engine. The marine outdrive includes a tubular support casing securable to and extendable rearwardly of the boat's transom and having a ball socket at its rear end. The ball socket receives a ball at the front end of a tubular, propeller shaft carrier having a conical outer surface. A drive shaft connectable to the inboard engine is journalled in the support casing. A propeller shaft is journalled in the propeller shaft carrier and has a propeller mounted thereon at the rear end of the propeller shaft carrier. A universal joint couples the two shafts together, the center of such joint substantially coinciding with the point about which the ball pivots within the socket. Hydraulic steering cylinders are attached to the propeller shaft carrier to pivot the latter about a steering axis extending through the pivot point of the ball. A hydraulic trim cylinder extends between the transom and the propeller shaft carrier to swing the propeller shaft carrier about a laterally extending trim axis extending through the pivot point of the ball.

A swimming pool leaf trap and main drain assembly collects and removes leaves and other debris from the floor of a swimming pool. The assembly includes a main drain recessed in a swimming pool floor and formed with a drain opening connected to a return line. The main drain removably houses an apertured basket that receives leaves, the normal downward flow of swimming pool water through the main drain trapping the leaves within the basket. The cover of the basket is provided with a lifting ring which is engaged by a brush handle to raise the basket to the surface. During such upward movement, the downward force of water through the basket holds the leaves within the basket. An anti-vortex plate covers the main drain opening when the basket is removed from the main drain. The cover of the basket is released from the basket at the surface to permit removal of the leaves trapped within the basket.
Apparatus and method for buffing articles, such as leather goods, silverware and the like. The apparatus includes a flexible container for receiving an article to be buffed.
