  • Upright And Bracket Arrangement

    view source
  • US Patent:
    40650880, Dec 27, 1977
  • Filed:
    Aug 13, 1975
  • Appl. No.:
    5/604145
  • Inventors:
Irving Wardell Shell - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    A47G 2902
  • US Classification:
    248242
  • Abstract:
A combination channel post and bracket including abutting means for removably securing the bracket to the post, and enabling the vertical level of the bracket to be incrementally varied along the post. The abutting means may include an upper rod for contacting the inside of the post and a lower rod for contacting the outside of the post, and a cam for also contacting the outside of the post. The rotation of the cam provides a fine adjustment of the slant of the bracket, and simultaneously locks the bracket at the new adjusted position. For purposes of exacting adjustability, the lower rod and cam may have several removable positions on the bracket for precisely varying the incline of the bracket. A spacer may be positioned between the post and the cam, to enable the cam to provide fine adjustment of the slant of the bracket and to lock the bracket in place, for the several different positions of the lower rod on the bracket, including a reverse slant position. The channelled post may comprise a pair of spaced apart front flanges to define a gap having a width dimension less than the length of the upper rod, the lower rod or the cam, so that the rods and cam bridge the gap to abutt both flanges, when the bracket is operatively mounted onto the post.
  • Connector Assembly

  • US Patent:
    41428099, Mar 6, 1979
  • Filed:
    May 17, 1978
  • Appl. No.:
    5/906777
  • Inventors:
Irving W. Shell - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    F16B 902
  • US Classification:
    403201
  • Abstract:
A connector assembly includes a hollow rectangular tubular member having keyhole apertures therein with large rounded upper head portions and narrow rectangular neck portions. A cylindrical connector has an axially extending projection at one end with a square neck and circular head which are respectively matable with the neck and head portions of the keyhole aperture for non-rotatable mounting therein. The connector has a radial internally threaded bore for receiving a rod to support associated structures. The connector may be mounted in any of four positions so that the rod extends up, down or laterally. The connector has circumferential and longitudinal grooves to facilitate holding in telescoping relation thereover an associated hollow cylindrical sleeve, which may additionally be locked in place by a setscrew received through the sleeve and into the bore.

  • Panel Locking Arrangement

    view source
  • US Patent:
    39959236, Dec 7, 1976
  • Filed:
    Mar 20, 1975
  • Appl. No.:
    5/560370
  • Inventors:
Irving W. Shell - Chicago IL
  • International Classification:
    F16B 1700
    F16B 1200
  • US Classification:
    312111
  • Abstract:
A lock arrangement for securing a first panel to a second panel, and including a bolt having a head formed to the outer end of a shaft. A resilient means encircles the shaft and is operatively associated with the first panel, and the head of the bolt is operatively associated with the second panel. The panels are secured together by the force of the resilient means when the head is locked in the second panel, and the panels are released when the head is dis-engaged from the second panel. Alternatively, a panel may be secured to a bracket using said bolt and said resilient means, or a pair of panels may be secured to a bracket utilizing a pair of said bolts and a pair of said resilient means.

  • US Patent:
    49039288, Feb 27, 1990
  • Filed:
    Jun 23, 1988
  • Appl. No.:
    7/212162
  • Inventors:
Irving W. Shell - Pompano Beach FL
  • Assignee:
Friedkin Industries, Inc. - Boca Raton FL
  • International Classification:
    A47B 9606
  • US Classification:
    2482251
  • Abstract:
An improved bracket arrangement for a slotted wall system is disclosed. The arrangement provides for vertically positioning the bracket regardless of the angle of the slots along the wall. A rotatable positioning bar is attached to the back of the bracket which allows the bar to be positioned transverse to the longitudinal axis of the slot while the bracket is maintained in a vertical orientation. Cam means are used to wedge the bar of the bracket and the back of the bracket between the slot and the face of the wall.
  • Hingeless Assembly For A Display System

    view source
  • US Patent:
    49681710, Nov 6, 1990
  • Filed:
    Jan 26, 1989
  • Appl. No.:
    7/301725
  • Inventors:
Irving W. Shell - Pompano Beach FL
  • Assignee:
Friedkin Industries, Inc. - Boca Raton FL
  • International Classification:
    E04B 1343
  • US Classification:
    403 4
  • Abstract:
A hingeless assembly for a modular display panel system is disclosed. The hingeless assembly includes a first portion which allows for attachment thereto of a flat plate wall panel and a second section for attaching an adjacent hingeless assembly thereto. The hingeless assembly of the present invention may be joined to another hingeless assembly with an angle of from zero to ninety degrees therebetween so as to form a display panel system of virtually any shape conceivable. The hingeless assembly attachment portion comprises an extending circular member and an extending parallel arranged cup-like member. The attachment portion of the hingeless assembly allows for connection thereto of another hingeless assembly with the cup-like and circular members of one of the assemblies respectively fitting with the circular member and the cup-like member of the other assembly so as to form a rotatable angle therebetween.
