Abstract:

A traffic barrier is pivotally attached to a gate by a hinge. A cover is releasably connected to the barrier and the gate and covers the hinge. When the cover is releasably connected to the barrier and the gate it will cooperate with the barrier and gate to resist relative movement between the barrier and gate at the hinge location.

Abstract:

Apparatus for absorbing energy when impacted by a vehicle includes relatively movable vertical, spaced supports supporting modules extending between the supports. At least one of the modules has elongated openings formed therein which define deformable module side wall strips located between the module ends. These module side wall strips bend in response to application of opposed forces to the module ends.

A barrier for a roadway (e.g., a highway, bridge, or other road), which can be used to manage vehicular traffic, such as to establish lanes, protect motorists and other people (e.g., pedestrians, constructions workers, etc) against crashes or other impacts, and/or other purposes, and which may be configured to enhance its use and performance, such as by better protecting the motorists and others when impacted by vehicles (e.g., reducing deflection by deflecting less or substantially not deflecting; mitigating risks of “catapulting” or “vaulting” of vehicles; and/or otherwise improving protection provided by the barrier), facilitating transportation, installation and/or transfer of the barrier at the roadway, and/or enhancing other aspects of the barrier.
