Abstract:

A briquet sheet from a briquetting machine is subjected to shearing forces to sever the longitudinal webs of the sheet and subsequently, to bending forces to fracture the remaining transverse webs. The separator apparatus includes a pair of shear rolls with alternate shear lands and smaller diameter idler rolls. The shear rolls are followed by a pair of lobed separator rolls.

Abstract:

Apparatus for sequentially loading and discharging from a trimming station, vulcanized vehicle tires of various sizes and for spinning a tire preferably while in an upright position to facilitate the removal therefrom of mold vents, flash, etc. The apparatus includes at least three parallel rollers adapted to engage the tire tread and circumpose the tire while spinning it about its axis of rotation. One of the rollers is driven, another applies suitable retaining pressure and one is retractable for discharging a trimmed tire. The spinning tire is held against axial movement by adjustable means adapted to accommodate tires of different widths. The diameter of the tire is automatically measured and the speed of rotation adjusted depending upon the diameter measurement.

Abstract:

The present invention provides microporous hollow fiber with improved structural and performance characteristics and a process and apparatus for preparing the improved fiber. The microporous hollow fiber possesses substantially uniform wall thickness, cross-sectional dimensions and porosity. Such characteristics are obtained by melt spinning hollow fiber precursor under defined conditions in a substantially vertically upward direction and subjecting the precursor to a symmetrical quenching step which may be achieved using a hollow annular structure surrounding the precursor. The structure, which is connected to a source of gas, has one or more openings on its inner surface that distribute the gas against the precursor in a substantially uniform manner.
