Jake Winter is a Renaissance man and pioneer in the building and design world. With over 20 years experience as a builder/contractor and multi-media fabrication artist, Jake, can create or restore anything that a client can imagine. He is an accomplished craftsman who specializes in woodworking, cabinetry, custom furnishings, metal work, theatrical sets, platforms, stages, props and intricate custom backdrops, and more. His creations often include fiberglass facades and augmentation. He is known for his floating cabinetry, art installations, and customized mobile vending truck designs. In addition to his building skills, Jake is an accomplished mechanic, having worked on professional pit crews, in addition to refurbishing vintage automobiles, motorcycles, and speed boats. A child of the 1970s, Jakes earliest inspirations and influences came from Ed Roth, George Barris, Richard Branson, and The Beatles. Philosophically, Jakes artistic creativity, unique combination of old world craftsmanship, precision and dedication to the highest quality in every detail of his work, coupled with his technical skills in mechanics set his work in a class by itself. One of Jakes more interesting recent projects encompassed the conceptualization and construction of a show room for The Original Vintage Venice Vending Company Prop House at the historic Santa Monica Airport. The Vintage Venice project involved a combination of revitalization, restoration, and retrofitting of an eighty year old dilapidated former army barrack. This project, also, entailed successfully creating an authentic 1920s style speakeasy that is capable of staging and seamlessly merchandising both authentic vintage Art Deco and reproduction products. This boutique, with very limited square footage, but, twenty foot high ceilings poised a challenge for the proprietor to store the merchandise without looking cluttered. Jake chose to incorporate a loft and floating shelves to make for a spacious showroom. Jake is a Designer and builder by profession, a mechanic for fun, and artist and musician by passion. He can conceptualize every creative project right down to the last note in the same way that he composes music. He creates a virtual symphony, the perfect duet in form and function.
