Abstract:

An apparatus and method for switching waveguides between a junction waveguide and a bypass waveguide among a plurality of housing ports. The apparatus comprises a housing having a first, second and third housing port and a waveguide rotor, having a first and second rotary position. The waveguide rotor includes a junction waveguide, having a first, second and third junction port, for combining the first, second and third housing ports in the first rotary position and a bypass waveguide, having a first and second bypass port, for connecting the first and second housing ports in the second rotary position. The junction and bypass waveguides are alternately selectable by rotating the waveguide rotor to the first and second rotary positions. The method comprises rotating a waveguide rotor including a junction waveguide having a first, second and third junction port and a bypass waveguide having a first and second bypass port, to a first rotary position in a housing including a first, second and third housing port, whereby the first, second and third junction ports connect the first, second and third housing ports and rotating the waveguide rotor to a second position a bypass waveguide, whereby the first and second bypass ports connect the first and second housing ports.

Abstract:

An apparatus and method for switching waveguides between T switch and a bypass waveguide. The apparatus comprises a housing having a first, second and third housing port and a waveguide rotor, having a first and second rotary position. The waveguide rotor includes a first T waveguide, having a first and second T port, for connecting the second and third housing ports in the first rotary position, a second T waveguide having a third and fourth T port, for connecting the first and fourth housing ports in the first rotary position and a bypass waveguide, having a first and second bypass port, for connecting the first and second housing ports in the second rotary position. The first and second rotary positions are alternately selectable by rotating the waveguide rotor. The method comprises rotating a waveguide rotor including a first T waveguide having a first and second T port, a second T waveguide having a third and fourth T port and a bypass waveguide having a first and second bypass port, to a first rotary position in a housing including a first, second and third housing port, whereby the first and second T ports connect the first and fourth housing ports and the third and fourth T ports connect the second and third housing ports. And rotating the waveguide rotor to a second rotary position, whereby the first and second bypass ports connect the first and second housing ports.

Abstract:

A reflective waveguide variable power divider/combiner comprises an orthomode tee section, which includes a section of cylindrical waveguide and a rotatable reflective phase shifter section. The rotatable reflective phase shifter section is rotatably connected to the orthomode tee section by a cylindrical choke joint. The orthomode tee section includes a single orthomode tee unit. The reflective waveguide variable power divider/combiner terminates at a short circuit that separates a motor from the rotatable reflective phase shifter section. The motor is configured to rotate the rotatable reflective phase shifter section relative to the orthomode tee section.

Abstract:

An apparatus includes a signal splitter configured to receive an input signal for transmission and to split the input signal to form two or more sub-signals. The apparatus further includes a first amplifier configured to generate a first amplified sub-signal, a second amplifier configured to generate a second amplified sub-signal, a first launcher coupled to the first amplifier and to a waveguide, and a second launcher coupled to the second amplifier and to the waveguide. The first and second launchers are coupled to the waveguide such that a first radiative signal generated by the first launcher responsive to the first amplified sub-signal and a second radiative signal generated by the second launcher responsive to the second amplified sub-signal are combined in the waveguide to form a transmission signal corresponding to the input signal.

An apparatus includes a first conductive patch coupled to a first surface of a dielectric layer, a second conductive patch coupled to a second surface of the dielectric layer, and a probe coupled to the second conductive patch. The apparatus further includes a waveguide having a wall conductively coupled to the first conductive patch. Responsive to a signal provided to the second conductive patch by the probe, interaction of the waveguide, the first conductive patch, and the second conductive patch generates a transmission signal that propagates in the waveguide.

Abstract:

An enhanced hybrid-tee coupler (“EHT-coupler”), the EHT-coupler is described. The EHT-coupler includes a first waveguide, second waveguide, third waveguide, and fourth waveguide. The first waveguide defines a first port and the second waveguide defines a second port. Similarly, the third waveguide defines a fourth port and the fourth waveguide defines a fourth port. The first, second, third, and fourth waveguides meet in a single common junction and the first waveguide and second waveguide are collinear. The third waveguide forms an E-plane junction with both the first waveguide and the second waveguide and the fourth waveguide forms an H-plane junction with both the first waveguide and the second waveguide. The EHT-coupler also includes a first impedance matching element positioned in the common junction where the first impedance matching element includes a base and a tip.

Abstract:

A power division and recombination network with internal signal adjustment (“PDRN”) is described. The PDRN may include a means for dividing an input power signal having a first amplitude value into eight intermediate power signals, where each intermediate power signal has an intermediate amplitude value equal to approximately one-eighth the first amplitude value. The PDRN may also include a means for processing the intermediate power signals and a means for combining the intermediate power signal into a single output power signal.
